Pancakes & toast vs. French toast & scrambled eggs...which is crazier?

I think pancakes and toast is weirder, mainly because French toast, though eggy, is a sweet item, and scrambled eggs is a savory item, so they tend to complement each other more. But I’ve never had either in combination.

HASHBROWNS AND FRIES?

Whadda STUD!

The most important criterion in this debate is who did the cooking. If someone else cooked then any combination of foods is OK. If you are cooking the toast is not needed, all the goodies can be served atop pancakes (which are better). Similarly scrambled eggs on toast is adequate why waste effort on french toast?

I think you have to look at it from the functional perspective. Pancakes are light and fluffy, and spongey and a great syrup delivery system. Toast is crisp and a pallet cleaning texural device. They are also functional for sopping up the extra egg yolk, or corraling the last bits of hash brown. Toast and with pancakes is not only acceptable, it is prefferable,

A friend of mine would argue that French Toast and Eggs are a natural together, as he puts Heinz Ketchup on both.

I personally think French toast should have granulated sugar, not syrup or (GF) Ketchup.

I agree with the Mrs.

Pancakes and Toast don’t go together…sound like a double whammy of non-nutritious empty caolries. Would you have a bagel or English Muffin w/your flapjacks?

My daughter once asked for ketchup on her toast. I said to her " You can’t have ketchup on your toast!" Fine. She decided she’d like some scrambled eggs. When I handed them to her, she asked for the ketchup. She has historically always eaten her eggs with ketchup, so I got it for her.

She ate the toast, with the ketchup. Didn’t touch the eggs.

Actually, an interesting IHOP fact is that only 1 of the combos is offered with toast- that would, in most locations be “The Quick 2-Egg Breakfast.” Contrary to popular belief, this is done not to dictate proper carbohydrate intake practices, instead, this is because as the featured starchy item, toast can be prepared far more quickly than pancakes. Allowing the “2 minute” claim to somewhat approximate actual prep time…many IHOP chains would actually prefer to see you order sides of hash browns, toast AND biscuits to accompany your pancakes, again not out of concern for your arteries but because the margin is higher on a la carte sales items…er, did I just reveal too much on the inner workings of the IHOP hive mind? Crap.

Anyhoo, for what it is worth I think you’re both wack-o why would only have pancakes and toast or fr. toast and eggs when the possibility for all 4 exists?!?!?
