Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza, what say ye?

I bought my first this afternoon. For those who don’t have one around, it’s a pizza franchise that makes fresh pizzas to be taken home and baked.
I got a large with everything for 11 bucks and I’d say it was pretty good. Miles ahead of grocery store frozen pizzas. The crust has that hint of yeast that makes it taste more like a pizza oughtta taste. A large is 2 meals for me.
Not the BEST pizza I ever had ( Cuban @Pies And Pints, Fayetteville, WV) but not bad at all.
The grocery store I shop at used to have fresh made take and bakes that were almost as good but switched to frozen monstrosities that are actually worse than most (Red Baron, Frachettas, Tombstone, etc.) frozen pizzas.

Are there other similar franchises out there?

Papa Murphy’s is pretty much my favorite pizza that isn’t fancy. Our favorite is a veggie pizza with pepperoni added. Mmm.

Papa Murphy’s is great. And I think they’ve ALWAYS had more than just red sauce, which is something that most franchises seem slow to pick up on.

I like Papa Murphy’s. I always get the thin crust. My only complaint is that you can’t get the thin crust in anything smaller than a large.

I like thier gormet veggie…has a alfredo sauce…mighty caloric I bblieve!!

Mmmm…Chicken, bacon, artichoke. It comes in the thin rust, and I can’t bring myself to pay $2 extra for the regular crust. A large feeds me for four meals. I cut it in half and put it in my toaster oven. I eat half the half each meal.

StG

I got one last month and found it absolutely tasteless (proverbial cardboard smeared with tomato sauce).

It’s not bad for u-bake I guess. We’ve had it many times at Chez Squeegee, but I can’t say I’d ever crave it. But it’s not like you can get decent pizza in abundance in my region (SF Bay Area), so the competition isn’t stiff. But it’s damn near dirt cheap, so it’s got that.

I’m a big fan of Papa Murphy’s. They are far better than any supermarket frozen pizza, although the price is about twice.

But not long ago they discontinued the deep-dish choices. The rectangular Sicilian was my favorite. I heard a rumor that some customers weren’t cooking them long enough and the company was worried about liability. Seems like an extreme attitude – you can undercook anything if you try hard enough. Why not just put the proper cooking time on the instruction sheet?

Had Papa Murphy’s once…it was pretty good, but the only franchise near us is a 20-minute drive away, and there are just so many good pizza places in our area, that it would have had to have been extraordinarily good for me to have become a regular customer.

I think if I’m going to spend that amount of money on a pizza, the least they could do is bake it for me.

? Their pizzas are way cheaper than any delivery chain and taste far better too. I used to get the Chicago stuffed and nurse it for 3 days worth of meals for like $15.

Big fan and sad we don’t have them in my current town.

It is far better than any grocery store pizza. But I don;t have a pizza oven, so it can’t be as good as a pizzaria pizza.

Their chicken garlic pizza is amazing. We always get that one, and another pizza with red sauce, and the chicken garlic is always superior.

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some red sauce, but mmmmmmmm that pizza.

And deliver it!

I found it thoroughly “MEH”! Though my secret shame is loving Totino’s party pizza.

I just seriously don’t understand their business model. Frozen pizza is twice as good and half the price so WHY?!?!

I’m not a fan of pizza as a rule, but Papa Murphy’s is the exception. We get the vegetarian with meat, it’s yummy.

Since I’m spoiled with surrounding italian pizza joints the only one I get from Papa Murphys is their deLite Mediterranean. Thin crust olive oil, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, garlic, and feta cheese. Very unique and very, very good.

:confused::eek:

I’ve never had it (Canada here), but my ex was originally from Minnesota, and used to RAVE about how good it was all the time. Next time I visit the Midwest, and, you know, have access to an oven, I shall have to try it out!

I thought this before I ever tried it. But they’re extremely generous with their toppings, it’s well worth it. You just have to not look at them as a standard pizza chain. They aren’t an “I’m hungry and lazy so I’ll order a pizza” place. They’re a “we’re all gonna hang out tonight so I should grab some food for later” place.

If you live somewhere with good pizza they might not have much to offer, but where I am, with Papa Johns, Dominos, and Pizza Hut being the best of your options, Papa Murphy’s blows them away.
