Paper Cuts

I just razor-ed my finger open on a Post-It.

Manilla Envelopes, copy paper, Files…they all seem out to slice my fingers open in the most painful ways possible.

It seems that at least once a week, I brutally wound myself.

I am beginning to wonder if some skin is thinner than others since the other people in my office do not appear to receive so many crippling attacks from seemingly harmless paper products.

The drier your skin is the more susceptible to paper cuts you’ll be. Start using a moisturizing lotion regularly - particularly in the drier, colder months, and you should find that you get fewer of this nasty little buggers.

Hell hath no fury like a mylar-paper cut. :frowning: Carboard paper cuts suck too.

Thank you UncleBeer for channeling “Hints From Heloise.” Every friggin’ time I load up copy paper in the copier at work I get paper cuts. Maybe I should just bandage all my fingers before I do it. Course then, I’d probably manage to slice open an artery on my arm or worse.

Worst one I’ve had was licking envelopes and got one with a slightly-curled flap - sliced myself nicely right at the tip of my tongue, almost a quarter inch deep! And my fucking co-workers laughing, 'coz I’m yelling “Sthit! Sthit! It reawy reawy hurspth!”

Just wear Kevlar gloves whenever you handle paper products.

OWWWIIEE!! Paper cuts! :frowning: They hurt almost as much as the fingertip sticky thing at the doctors office. I’d rather have a needle any day. But back to paper cuts, I got one today myself. What if somebody got a flesh-eating-bacterial infection from an office paper cut? Would that be covered by Workmen’s Comp??

I used to make blueprints for a living. You don’t know what a paper cut is unless you’ve sliced your skin with a sheet of paper a meter long and a meter and a half wide while being exposed to gaseous ammonia.

Well I moisturize alot, but I will be glad to step it up a notch.

I did manage to find some hand sanitizer to clean the cut with (ALCOHOL BURNS) and then used scotch tape to keep it from flapping open when I type.

It just never ceases to amaze me, How badly it hurts when it happens.

I mean, searing pain!

Ignorance is bliss.

Grr, regular papercuts aren’t too bad, but I hate cardboard ones. I swear a little alarm goes off in my head every time I take a coke from one of those refridgerator packs. Extremely large papercut on writing hand = painful.

I do and I have. And paper cuts on that same paper still suck without the ammonia.

I adore New Skin Liquid bandage. It has an antiseptic, so it stings a bit, but it seals papercuts right up!

I feel for you Maxx. The upshot is that after several months of blueprint paper cuts you develop enough scar tissue that regular paper can’t get through…
