Paraphrased Lyrics

Nope. The song is “White Rabbit”.

T3: “Making Love Out of Nothing At All” – Air Supply (blech!)

Yep. Not the first time I’ve made that mistake.
Here are a few more of varying degrees of difficulty.

F1: Selene wakes, auguring no good.

F2: Carmine beverage, induce in me a state of retrograde amnesia

F3: Sadly, buccaneering is no longer a feasible profession

F4: A clandestine lifestyle in no way resembles a social occasion and leaves no time for courting.

F5: Despite the encouragement of friends, unemployment sucks.

F6: In retrospect, nearly a hundred was a very bad idea.

“Red Red Wine” by Neil Diamond/UB40?
Here’s a new one: “Do not be nervous on account of any entity. Each trivial event will go reasonably well.”

He does say “baby” instead of “brother”, later in the song.

Don’t worry, 'bout a thing. Every little thing, gonna be alright

Three Little Birds - Bob Marley & The Wailers

Nice one.

Just a guess…

I see a bad moon rising

Bad Moon Rising - CCR

thwartme

Well then. I was all ready to bitch about how nobody knows that Tony Tribe wrote the song, but then wiki’ed it and apparently Tony covered Neil Diamond. :o

So to hide my embarassment, here’s some of my own paraphrased lyrics.

R1: European capital hailing small urban areas at a distance

R2: First person narrator tumbled into an enclosed circular area consisting of the oxidation of combustible materials

R3: During the hours that preceded this morning first person narrator’s mind conjured images involving a rendezvous with a notable terrorist and writer of Celtic descent.

ahem this very post contains a hint to the last lyric. /\

London Calling, The Clash

Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash

S1: I have a strong desire to extricate myself from this situation

S2: It would be very aesthetically pleasing if I had the opportunity to feel your naked flesh…because I need to believe in something without any proof

Faith, George Michael?

Yep.

sheesh…probably dozens of songs fit. But how about “All Along the Watchtower”? Which is apparently by Dylan although I would have guessed Hendrix.

I was going for “I Want to Break Free” by Queen.

Would F4 be Life During Wartime by Talking Heads?

Try these:

W1: I possess my father’s vehicle, an instrument for swing-type music, and a running bill at an Afro-centric-themed night spot.

W2: You have what I require, and yet you maintain that you and the gentleman I observed you with have no romantic entanglement.

W3: Would that I were a regent for one rotation of the earth, I would surely abdicate.

W4: The two of us are ensnared and I am unable to exit owing to the fact that I have an overabundance of affection for you.

Without reading other posts, so forgive me if some of these have been answered before.

B1: Pardon me, younger brother of Adam & Eric, but to which destination are you transporting that firearm, which you are grasping?

Hey Joe - Performed by many people, but most famously, Hendrix.

(Hey Joe, where you goin’ with that gun in your hand. Gotten without knowing who the hell Adam, Eric and Joe are.)

B3: If it is your desire to have carnal relations in congress with myself, than your primary requirement should be gain acceptance from those to whom I feel a level of mutual trust and affection in a platonic fashion.

Wannabe - The Spice Girls

(If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends.)

B5: The only purpose in my telephonic communication is to elocute my positively-disposed emotional state, vis-a-vis yourself.

I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder.

(That’s also the lyric in question.)

B9: Approach, and sense audio in a tactile manner. Females, oscillate your males.

It took me SO long to get Cum On Feel the Noize (by Slade, and more famously Quiet Riot) out of this. ‘Oscillate your males’ is hilarious phrasing.

(Come on feel the noise, girls, rock your boys… Or I suppose ‘Cum on feel the noize, girlz rock yer boyz’. >_>)

T1: A singular affection, a singular cardiac organ. I recommend a large gathering at which all present will feel content.

One Love - Bob Marley

(One love, one heart, let’s get together and feel alright.)

T2: Unknown persons at day’s end, trading brief visual assessments of each other.

Strangers in the Night - Frank Sinatra. (I think he did it. Someone of that general era and genre.)

(Strangers in the night, exchanging glances.)

TJ3: I’ve seen what lies ahead, infant, and it is felony homicide.

The Future - Leonard Cohen

(I’ve seen the future, baby, and it is murder.)

I’ll post a few later, once I’ve thought of some.

FA1: *Bad Moon on the Rise *(CCR)?

FA2: A Pirate Looks at Forty (Jimmy Buffett)

WA2: Just A Friend (Biz Markie)

Yep.

Yep and yep. Although I think someone already got the first one.

OK, some clues from me:

Gu1 - Our home, which happens to be central on our cul du sac - it was, for us, a fortress.
Gu2 - Please, tell me about his sanity, his eyesight, and his mobility.
Gu3 - My acquaintances are too well informed, therefor they cannot bring themselves to publicly be in my presence.
Gu4 - I like my women much younger, because they tend to be less concerned about my peccadilloes and odd mien, as well as being less inquisitive and more affectionate in general. But, oh crap, I think I may have just committed statutory rape.

Not so much a paraphrase as it struck me, and I just had to post it. Because I have to be silly sometimes.

GuS1 - ‘Hey, this isn’t my lyrics sheet, this is a periodic table. Oh, what the hell, I’ll run with it.’

My turn:

RN1 (tough): Allow not the closest star to dip below the horizon while I am here

RN2 (easy): Hie thee from this place, hie thee from this place, for there is no person who wishes to lose

RN3: (really hard because the song’s a bit obscure): In the event that a human male is thought to be the perpetrator of a crime based on his thoughts, execute me by passing current through a seating device in recognition for transgressions I will commit at some later date

RN4 (easy): Go out luminescence, come in hours during which it is dark, grasp the terminus of my upper extremity, for we are visiting the fictional place described in Peter Pan

Gu1: Our House by Madness

And W2 is correct.

And RN4 is Enter Sandman by Metallica
