Paraphrased Lyrics

GuA1: Our House (Madness)

GuA4: She’s Only Seventeen (Winger)

RN1 (tough): Allow not the closest star to dip below the horizon while I am here

Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Elton John.

(Again, also the lyric in question.)

RN4 (easy): Go out luminescence, come in hours during which it is dark, grasp the terminus of my upper extremity, for we are visiting the fictional place described in Peter Pan

Enter Sandman - Metalica

(Exit light, enter night, take my hand - off to Never Never Land!)

Correct on the first count, incorrect on the second. His reasons are the key to getting Gu4. I have no idea of She’s Only Seventeen is a valid answer when keeping that part in mind, I’ve not heard it. It’s not the one I was going for, though.

Both correct, well done.

I was kind of guessing with (She’s Only) Seventeen. I only know the chorus, but it sounded about right.

Tom Lehrer: The Elements

RN5 (easy): Should you be experiencing difficulties with females, you have my sympathy; I myself have nearly a hundred issues troubling me, but a female dog is not among them

RN6 (hard I think): Although you have slain me, I shall return the favor; discharge thy firearm, yet I shall drive my sword into your abdomen; while you anticipate the forthcoming sortie; it would be advisable for you to retreat although an about face is not an option

Bingo.

RN5 (easy): Should you be experiencing difficulties with females, you have my sympathy; I myself have nearly a hundred issues troubling me, but a female dog is not among them

99 Problems - Jay-Z

(If you’re having girl problems, I feel bad for you son, I’ve got 99 problems, but a bitch ain’t one.)

For RN6, read “firearm” in the first line as “muzzle-loaded, smooth-bore firearm”.

99 Problems is correct.

RN6: The Trooper, Iron Maiden

You take my life but I take yours too. You fire musket but I run you through. So when you’re waiting for the next attack you’d better stand there’s no turning back.

Awesome track.

thwartme

Well done… didn’t think anyone would get it that quickly. Especially since I just realized I made a mistake in the last line- thought it was “you’d better run”, not “you’d better stand”. :smack:

Still active from me:

A note about Gu2 - it goes rather against the general trend of this thread, in that it’s SIGNIFICANTLY more concise than the original passage.

Nobody’s gotten this yet. So here’s a few more.

R4: An infamous hate group has kidnapped my beloved.

R5: During the process of traversing some ancient geological formations, I accosted a man in the military’s service who was tallying his assets.

R4: The KKK Took My Baby Away-- The Ramones
R5. Whiskey in the Jar-- Thin Lizzy

JQ4. I would not be so alienated if all people were intoxicated.

Thin Lizzy? :stuck_out_tongue: Jeez, I guess that’s better than Metallica.

JQ2: Chattanooga Choo Choo, Glenn Miller.

It was performed by The Dubliners before it was done by Thin Lizzy, and it’s an old Irish folk song anyway.

I’m not sure it’s an * accurate * paraphrase, but Timewarp from Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Jq1 And Jq2 have been solved

JQ5. Put the nasal mucus in the rectal cavity
JQ6. The populace tries to denigrate us because we are mobile.

Dylan: Everybody must get stoned.

JQ3. The female monarch is fairly pleasant, but she is quite reticent.

Her Majesty - The Beatles

(Her Majesty is a pretty nice girl, but she doesn’t have a lot to say.)

Actual title Rainy Day Women No 12 & 35

I’m so :smack: that I didn’t get it.
