I have a 35 gallon aquarium with a catfish, three otto’s, two corydoras, two glowlite tetras, one gourami and three african dwarf frogs. The gourami and the otto’s have parasites. I want to treat the whole tank and I’m wondering if anyone knows if it’s safe for my frogs.
The frogs are by far my favourite. They are all tame and are hand fed daily.
I don’t normally really get any replies when I post but I’m sure hoping somebody will help if they can.
Thank you.
Check the active ingredient. usually it is a copper derivative. If so, I wouldn’t use it on your frogs. You can always remove them to a simple deep tupperware with water for the treatment period, and do a normal water change before retuning them.
googles)…hmm. it says the actives are: Active ingredients: praziquantel; N-[[(N-Chlorophenyl)amino]carbon 1]-2,6-difluorobenzamide; metronidazole; acriflavine.
I don’t see anything offhand that ought to be toxic to the frogs, but depending on the size of them I would still be leery. African clawed frogs are pretty tough, but all amphibians can be susceptible to chemical problems.
Either remove the frogs, or call a vet to double check. I’m not familiar with this product, having used a commercial parasite product for all my aquaculture.
Acid Lamp, thank you.
These are African Dwarf Frogs. I wonder if they are as hardy as the Clawed frogs. If I remove them to do the treatment, how long do you think I should wait till I put them back?
Same species I believe. Remove them for the duration of the treatment cycle, perform a normal water change and re introduce them to the habitat. They should be fine.

If it is Ich I have sucessfully treated my aquaiums several times with a diatom filter. Apparantly it filters down to one micron which filters the free swimming stage of ich. I had it running continuously for 2 weeks as I recall. Mine is a vortex xl. Course ymmv.
