Parental nightmare YouTuber Andrew Tate busted - and you won't believe by whom!

to be fair, the distance between “Miss New Jersey” and “anti-woke” does not seem like it would be all that much

Romanian police have seized Tate’s 33 cars. :joy:

This all goes to make me feel fortunate to have not heard of this person in the past, and I hope to hear very much less about him in the future.

Please tell me Ms. Thunberg tweeted “You were saying?”

In his original Tweet he offered to email Greta a complete list of his car collection. I wonder if she has forwarded the list to the Romanian authorities to ensure that they got them all?

I’m sure they can count to treizeci si trei.

I’ll bet dollars to dimes Tate doesn’t actually fully own all those cars.

Not surprisingly, women are starting to come out of the woodwork to tell horror stories about being held captive and abused sexually and in other ways.

Equally unsurprisingly, they are now going after him for tax evasion.

If he was raided along with others as part of a tax evasion ring, that should put to bed the pizza box theory. Seems unlikely he would have been able to hide out when no one else could. Especially considering his apparent high profile.

I mentioned in the other thread that meeting Al Capone’s fate might be what happened if he tried to escape Romania and get back to the U.K. It looks like the Romanians are on the ball too. Let’s hope they can get him on the far more heinous crimes too, but the more they have to keep him behind bars the better.

The pizza box thing got sexed up till its false. The initial story was only ever that the final element the authorities needed to get a warrant was evidence that Tate was at his Romanian home at the particular time the warrant issued. It was not seriously suggested that this was anything more than a tiny element in a far broader investigation.

Presumably if the pizza box evidence hadn’t fallen into their lap the authorities would have just proved the same thing some other less amusing way.

The original story almost immediately got transmogrified into something implying the pizza box was the key to the whole investigation.

It’s funny to me. I and most folks had never heard of this asshole. NOW he has a bit more of a high profile.

I’d never heard of him and now that I’ve learned a bit about him, it is at least concerning to me that apparently millions of young men approve of his stated philosophy with regards to how women should be treated.

He’s gross and I hope he goes away long enough for his fans to grow the fuck up.

Unfortunately a new crop of boys turns 12 every single day.

Some pieces to the story, as I recall seeing it put together, that I haven’t seen here:
–GRETA: There is a European group that investigates human trafficking that uses the acronym GRETA (Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking of Human Beings, in English). Tate was presumably tipped off that GRETA was after him, and he assumed that they meant Greta Thunberg. Thus started the out of the blue twitter battle, quickly won by Thunberg.
–Pizza: As others have noted, the pizza box was just the final evidence that Tate was currently in Romania. They had been investigating him and must have wanted to arrest him with his operation to get the most evidence against him. They knew a lot of his operation was in Romania, but they were never sure when he was also in Romania. The live video of him on twitter with the pizza box gave them that information.

There’s no border control checking IDs?

Romania is an EU nation. Tate was an EU national (as a subject of the UK) and apparently entered Romania in 2017, before Brexit. How much border control do you think would have applied, and do any easily-accessible entry records extend back 5 years?

I have no idea, that’s why I was asking.
