It’s all a hoax, folks.
Dammit :smack: I swear I didn’t see the previous posts…
Using a cell phone around a baby can cause the baby to explode.
I’m awed at you! You were the first one who noticed that something didn’t add up in the original story. My hat is off to you.
And glad the baby will be okay, of course.
If this was even remotely true some of my friends would have baby-colored walls and cars.
Why, thank you.
What is your Pay Pal account again?
I’m glad that the story turned out not to be true, but the whole situation is obviously still disturbing. She’s 38, for Christ’s sake, not 13.
Here’s something that always amazes me about stories of moms who give birth and dump their babies or leave them in a public restroom or whatever (beyond the horror of it all, of course): Just after I had my babies, I looked like I had had a baby. I was sweaty, sore, bleeding profusely, walking funny, etc. Who the hell are these women who can just drop a baby and go?
What a ghastly but unintentional pun.
Perhaps the states that will let mothers leave the child with no questions asked should make those laws better known. Require medical facilities to post them.
Isn’t part of the problem that the girls and women who abandon babies avoid prenatal medical care for fear of their pregnancy being discovered? So posting the information in medical facilities is likely not to reach some of those most in need of it.
Okay, so we also require it to be printed on the back of all pregnancy test kits sold in our state.
Ya know, I wondered about the woman’s story because the baby didn’t seem to be injured much for having been tossed from a car. I almost posted skepticism but then I thought I was just being cynical. Heh.
And I thought you were just archaic about it.
There’s a birth control debate in here someplace, but I’ll be damned if I can argue it properly.
Here in Boston, there are now several different PSAs that run on popular TV stations with this info.
How would one Google if their state has such a law?
Try “Safe Haven Law”.
46 states have them. Who are the other four and why not? Is it because they haven’t gotten around to it yet?
Hot damn!
You can leave your baby,
up to 30 days old,
with an employee at any medical facility,
or adoption agency
in Arkansas -
no questions asked.
We are cool. We have shoes and everything.
I also wonder who can have a baby and then go on as normal. After I had a baby, for weeks any stranger could have looked at me from a mile away and said, “why, that woman has just had a baby.”
It’s like that teenage girl who had a baby in the bathroom and then went to her prom. Who could do that? I mean, who could physically do that?? What secret am I missing here?
I wonder what was going on in her mind. I understand having a baby you can’t handle, but how she could think making up a story like this is a good plan I don’t know.

There’s information on safe haven laws in various states and territories here.
Given that the woman’s story was inspired by an actual arguing couple whom other motorists saw, I’m just glad the truth was discovered before two innocent people were pilloried in the media and dragged into a harsh spotlight for no reason.
