See, I don’t even THINK about Paris Hilton when someone’s not hating on her.
As for the peeing in corners. That’s ridiculous, who cares? I think our obsession with this sort of decorum is completely irrational and forgets that the point of toilets is that they keep SHIT out of the street and stop the spread of disease. Sterile Urine which soaks into the concrete and evaporates very quickly isn’t going to cause disease. So it’s in my opinion not worth worrying about . It’s far worse the way we hold our bladders, it causes bladder infections, which is a form of disease, exactly what NOT peeing on the street is supposed to prevent. I piss on the street all the time because in New York there are no public bathrooms and I shouldn’t have to buy something just to take a piss. So until civilization advances a little, I’ll continue to piss dumbasses off just like she does.
The fact that you project the anguish from your life that was no doubt gained from something completely unrelated to Paris Hilton just shows me that you’re dumb, and out of touch with reality.
Yes, Paris Hilton is a prostitute, that’s exactly what she is, and I don’t have a problem with it at all.
And Chefguy: You continue to miss the point, work doesn’t necessarily imply that one is working out of desperation. It can still be work and not be desperate. I think what pisses people off here is that such a filthy cunt is so much higher on the food chain than they are. I think that transcends jealousy personally.
I’m having trouble with that formulation because it ignores the OP. The OP is not “I doubt Paris works hard” it is “Paris is such an idiot she thinks she works hard”. Before you start calling someone an idiot for saying something, you’d damn well better be in a position to prove they are wrong. Which you are not.
The rest of your post consists of an attempt to handwave away the work that pH does on the basis it’s not hard enough. You ain’t got nothing. And if you are going to support the OP (which is not a call to doubt, it is a positive statement and an accusation of idiocy) you need to prove it.
Princhester: I grow weary of this. You seem totally unable to comprehend where the burden of proof lies. I have no idea why you’ve got those blinders on, but I really don’t care. Someone who doesn’t have a job is not assumed to be working hard, because they have nothing to work at. If you want to prove that they work hard, you have to, ya know, prove it. I’m tired of your logical fallacy. Have fun with it.
If you honestly believe that someone who did nothing other than trade on name recognition and some public misbehavior was working hard to get where they are, then so be it.
Some people are born on third base and think they hit a tripple. Some people will believe them.
You don’t address my point about the burden of proof.
It’s very very simply. If you are going to call someone out as a liar and an idiot, you need to prove that what they are saying is wrong.
Throwing around generalisms does not amount to proof.
Others in this thread have given you a substantial list of things PH has or is working on. If you are going to suggest those things did not involve work, and therefore PH is an idiot to say they did, you need to prove it.
I don’t have the faintest idea whether PH works hard. But I’m not the one calling her names, so I have nothing to prove. Unlike you.
FinnAgain’s posts are false, and he is therefore an idiot.
If you disagree with that assessment, it’s up to you prove otherwise. I am entitled to sit back: the onus of clearing yourself of my accusation is on you.
I wouldn’t want the media following my every move, but then again, she started the feeding frenzy with silly sensational shit. If she pissed on the carpet, I’m surprised someone didn’t get it on video along with a utility knife to cut out the Paris Pissed on Plush samples, only $5000/sf on eBay. Tell me someone wouldn’t buy it.
Someone who does not have a job/career/educational-path does not have a commitment of time and effort on a regular basis.
Someone who does not have a commitment of time and effort on a regular basis cannot be assumed to be working hard on a regular basis.
Absent of contradictory information, there is no reason to suppose that someone who is not working hard on a regular basis is, in fact, working hard on a regular basis.
Yet agaaaaaaaaaain.
Burden. Of. Proof.
Besides which, the point of the OP is that Paris is an idiot for claiming that she worked really hard to get where she is. She traded on her name recognition and minor infamy. Hardly working hard to get where she is.
Arggggggggggggg. Never mind. Forget I said anything. Paris Hilton is the hardest working woman in America and her sucess is due to her pulling herself out of poverty with blood sweat and tears.
I came across an issue of Teen People a few months ago where she was actually named as a role model. On what fucking planet is a someone like Paris Hilton (her mother should be bitch-slapped for giving her poor daughter that stupid fucking name) any sort of role model for adolescent females?
The last thing I would ever want my daughter to become when she grows up is an uneducated slut with no ambition or class like Ms. Hilton. She’s America’s best argument for inheritance taxes.
I know it was. And most of the stunts on Jackass were performed in a controlled environment. But Jackass had a disclaimer because there are young men who will imitate stunts without thinking of the consequences. Simple Life should have had a disclaimer because there are young women who will imitate bratty behavior without thinking of the consequences to that.
Just plain out and out laughable. There are any number of non-standard ways of working that do not involve job/career/educational path which nonetheless involve hard work. In any other context you’d acknowledge that but because you got nuthin’ you’re making desperate attempts to propose some sort of restricted reality to prop up a crock.
FinnAgain, take your #1 there. I feel as though you are assuming she does not fulfill that first condition, without having any proof to back you up. I believe that she has actually chosen a career path and is doing a reasonably good job of progressing along it. From modeling, commercials and bit parts in movies and TV shows to getting her own TV show, to featured parts in movies. That’s a career progression many actors would kill for.
Yet… people say she has no ambition, is a blight on society, or worse. Some dude with a weblog relates a story told at a
Oh jeez, hit the wrong button! Let’s try that last sentence again:
Yet… people say she has no ambition, is a blight on society, or worse. Take Guin’s example. Some dude with a weblog relates, secondhand, a story told at a storytelling SLAM claiming that Paris peed in a restaurant, and it’s presented as dead fact. The storytelling group doesn’t even pretend to focus on TRUE stories (ghost stories anyone?) yet everyone assumes it’s 100% true and bases their image of her on that.
Russell Crowe has been praised here as a hard worker, yet he assaulted a hotel worker with a telephone a couple of months ago, because the phone wouldn’t work. And that, my friends, is not a thirdhand rumor. So, who’s the better role model, the girl who is spoiled and immature, or the guy who is spoiled and immature?
I just think that people should get a fair shake. I wind up defending people like Paris or GW Bush because the detractors either go right off the deep end with hyperbole, or refuse to allow for even one positive statement about their targets.
There ya’ go! I get tired of defending an administration I don’t even like, or in this case a girl I seldom even notice.
But I do it over and over on this message board because of all the blind, irrational hatred that gets spewed around.
Anybody that thinks “Just standing around letting people take pictures of you” isn’t hard work has never tried it. I have a friend that does commercial modeling, and from what I can tell, the work is very demanding.
The entertainment industry is incredibly stressful. Most of these idiots don’t even know what goes into it. They are so desperately trying to find a way to feel superior to Paris Hilton to soothe their own battered egos that they are willing to throw reason completely out the window.
