Parks and Recreation - Jan. 12, 2012 - The Comeback Kid

This episode barely managed to hold my attention.

I liked Tom’s red carpet shtik.

And Andy did a fantastic slip-and-fall on the ice rink.

Other than that … I’m bored of Leslie’s campaign for office.

Me too. Some good gags, but the thread that ties them together is weak. Leslie’s relationship with Ben intrudes into too many episodes also. But I think the campaign is the problem. This political campaigns is too normal to entertain. If I want to see that I can watch the news channels.

I agree the election storyline is tired. I did laugh when Andy cracked up at the basketball player getting injured.

I thought it was too cartoony, but I liked Ben’s unemployed side projects (claymation and calzones).

The Low-Cal Calzone Zone!

Ben’s claymation clip made me laugh harder than anything has in weeks. It was just so perfectly terrible and depressing in so many ways.

I think the whole scene at the ice rink was a little too Office-y for me. I was hoping that Leslie would pull it off at the end.

I think the B Story with Ben and Chris was a lot better. It was good to see those too guys just be friends for once. It’s been said that they’ve been friends for a long time, but we never really got to see it before. Also, Ben’s love of calzones is one of my favorite recurring jokes outside of Arrested Development.

I can’t recall the prior references to calzones.

Damn, I can’t remember the last time I had a calzone. 1993? It’s just not very often I’m eating a pizza and I wish it had been folded over and sealed and filled with even more cheese.

Come to think of it, isn’t that basically what a Hot Pocket is? Somebody has already beaten Ben to the punch.

Yeah, but bigger. It’s more of a hot pouch.

Also calzones taste good.

“I gotta ask, did it have four legs when you got it?”

Ben wants to get calzones when they’re trying to woo the Pawnee cops into providing security for the Harvest Festival and everyone berates him for it. They’ve thrown in a few more times of him eating a calzone in other episodes. It’s like Jim and the ham and cheese sandwich on The Office.

“They’re like pizza, but harder to eat!”

Boring episode except for the claymation video, which I laughed pretty hard at.

Also, I hope April dies in the series finale.

I was a big fan , even Season 1 but this season is a little flat for me.

Still crushing on Rashida Jones though.

The episode didn’t really move me, but hot damn, depressed Ben was hot.

Only if she comes back as a ghost and haunts the P&R offices.

I don’t mind this season at all. The campaign will be ongoing, and certain eps will be better than others, but the characters make the whole show great.

Behold!Requiem For a Tuesday!

I couldn’t stop laughing when Ben was totally confused, kept replaying it for himself and Chris, as if there should’ve been more, REM’s song just ending like that 3 times is a row just had me rolling; compounded with Ben’s awareness of what he thought he had done (“It took me 3 weeks! I sent it to Leslie! I compared it to Avatar!”)… Gold.

Why was it necessary to take the dog to the podium, as opposed to just leaving him in the locker room?

I betcya 10 clams they’re setting him up for a lovable Pawnee/Knope mascot. Something has to fill the dark, aching void of Lil’ Sebastian!

This episode inspired me to have a calzone for dinner tonight, lol

Wasn’t from the Low Cal Calzone Zone, though
