You’re the first person I’ve ever heard that likes the show, but doesn’t like Ron Swanson. The Pyramid of Greatness? His steak diary? The Pawnee Ranger’s Guide (“‘Be a man.’ I wrote the whole thing.”)? Whittling a stick into a flute in a matter of hours?
They’ve been pretty good friends since the show started as far as I can remember.
I might be misremembering, but I thought she invested because Tom talked up the place so much and made it sound like it would be such a great investment that she invested in it herself. She just didn’t invest with Tom since she doesn’t like Jean-Ralphio.
They were offering shares in the snakehole for 10,000 bucks a pop. Tom tried to get JeanRalphio and Donna to split a share. She didn’t want to split and she didn’t like JeanRalphio but the deal was good so she bought, I think, 3 shares. I have no idea what a woman who has that sort of capital to spend is doing working a crap government job.
Speaking of Jean-Ralphio, am I the only one who totally loves that character? I mean, if I knew him in real life I’d think he was annoying as fuck. But because I can watch onscreen from a safe distance as he subjects others to his unique flavor of charm, it’s goddamn hilarious. Especially when he once interacted with Ron - I couldn’t imagine a more dynamic combination. Of course, he’s best in small doses (which is usually how that character is handled).
I spent about half the episode trying to figure out how one would build a shelter out of a tarp and a small cardboard box.
Wow. You have clearly never watched Les Shroud’s show. Hell, the box is a luxury. You only really need the tarp.
She was already a regular at the Snakehole, though. She said she liked hanging out there.
No, I love him too.
Oh, I know. I couldn’t figure out what you were supposed to with the box. I guess you could flatten it and sleep on it, but I couldn’t imagine Ron Swanson advocating anything other than sleeping on the ground.
a) I’m not hopelessly in love with the show. It’s cute and absurd, but basically it’s social comedy, which is aimed at normal social people who laugh mostly at other people’s awkward situations. My sense of humor is too verbal and shticky to appreciate that style, which happens to be in the ascendancy right now.
b. I find Ron too triggering to be really funny, but for that reason also, I can’t look away.
Agreed. I love his raps on people’s names, which he then ruins by adding a few words at the end.
Actually, what I find even funnier is the fact that the “ruined” rhymes are better than the proper rhymes.
