Sorry, I’m so tired that I’ve only just realised I made a mistake earlier on in the party. I don’t drink Scotch! Well, not any more, and I shouldn’t have asked for some before. It was those creaking stairs … the long stairs, leading up to the ballroom off the promenade deck.
