But none near us do - this part of the state is not a big draw for retirees, so facilities and services are limited.
Whyever for???
My intrarwebz got fixed overnight, so huzzah! FCD would have gone crazy - he watches lots of TV and since ours is streaming… In fact, he’s gone crazy anyway - intrarwebz still not working at his folks’ place, but he hasn’t bothered to call the provider
- claims he will today. They were going to buy a new TV last night, but FIL wasn’t feeling up to it and I think he got on FCD’s last nerve. I could tell thru his texts that he’s sooooo frustrated. He feels like a bad guy for being upset. Um, I don’t think a bad guy would drive 13 hours to help his folks. Not sure if he’ll be home tomorrow or not.
Meanwhile, I’ve started packing up for the trek to my mom’s. Mostly my swimwear and food/formula for Tobias. I’ll fill a baggie of Cheerios for car snacking. And my tablet is charged for Roxy to use on the trip there. I expect her to sleep all the way home. (Hah - yeah, right,)
Speaking of the most amazing granddaughter in the world…
I got to sit in on her testing/evaluation - as background, my daughter was concerned about her speech/comprehension progression. Anyway, there were two women there testing her - each also spoke to me as the other was working with Roxy. The most difficult part for me was not correcting Roxy when she started getting antsy (it was like 45 minutes long.)
They started with age-appropriate skills and kept going. Didn’t stop till she was nailing 6-to-7 y/o skills - they were really impressed (or really good actors.) The one that cracked me up: the tester posed: “Fly like a bird, swim like a what?” and Roxy answered “Mermaid!” But she could write her name, then when the teacher wrote a word, Roxy copied it. And (I didn’t know she knew this) she wrote her numbers from 1-10! I know she counts - I just didn’t know she was writing her numbers.
On the negative side, she’s easily bored and distracted… then again, she’s 4. I think that’s part of the age. I did ask about next year when she starts kindergarten - since she’s so far ahead already, I don’t want her kindergarten year to be wasted. They assured me the teachers do their best to keep all kids challenged. It will be up to my daughter to stay on top of that. I wish we could keep her in Montessori longer, but unless we hit the lottery, that ain’t gonna happen.
Enough bragging and stuff. I need to get the dishes done before the kids get here. Not looking forward to 2+ hours on the road with them - they’ll sleep on the way home, but they’ll be wide awake on the ride there. Dammit!
Happy Wednesday!!
