Patrick Stewart 'Gay'?

I don’t have a cite. Because I am not sure where I heard it exactly. But there is a joke circulating around, that Star Trek alumnus and British actor Patrick Stewart is gay. I have to tell you now, I am sure he is not. He is happily married and has a son.

But where did the joke originate? And why? I know there is a meme of him kissing another actor. But it could be a fake.

Also, I have to tell you. I am usually the last person to get a joke. Don’t laugh. A lot people are also that way. They are just too afraid to admit it. And I was having a friendly chat with one of my doctors. And he doesn’t get the joke either. (And he has a medical degree;)).

So why the joke? And I guess I have to ask too, Is it true:eek:? (As I said, I think it isn’t.)

:):):):):):)

A lot of people seem to think him and Ian McKellan are more than friends, although they certainly don’t seem to be - Sir Ian officiated at Sir Patrick’s wedding and all.

Never heard this in my life.

:shrugs:

Been married to 3 women , still married to his 3rd wife. First marriage lasted 24 years and he has 2 kids. Lots of rumors of people with wives and kids being gay. Two common ones are John Travolta and Tom Cruise. South park did an episode on Cruise being gay.

I have no clue about Patrick Stewart nor do I assume that it’s any of my business. But number of marriages and children in no way indicates sexual preference from someone of his generation/status.

Why would it be a joke? Being gay is funny now? The Monty Python jokes in that vein were satirizing the culture of 50 years ago.

I assumed this was it.

I seem to recall Stewart being asked about it before and declining to discuss it on the basis of denying it would only legitimize the idea of homosexuality being noteworthy. So it was a “What’s it matter?” kind of response.

This - my paternal uncle was gay - his wife knew it, not sure if his 2 daughters knew it or not. None of my business, I just happen to know because he hit upon a gay friend of mine [no idea if they did anything or not, again, none of my direct business]

And the term for that is bisexual =)I suppose that because he had 2 daughters he must have found something attractive to him in his wife, I know for certain that they are kin, they have the family looks and AB neg blood type.

No, but his most recent marriage was in 2013 and came after he and his wife dated for five years. And that came after having played a gay character in Jeffrey wayyyy back in 1995. I can’t imagine Stewart being in the least bit shy about coming out if he were gay, especially as he has been close friends with Ian McKellen for decades.

I kind of enjoy these revelations. I like the idea actors could be gay, bi, or straight but with a little FWB on the side. It makes them more interesting. … (If there is anything more dumb and boring than a ‘he-man laydeeeeeze man’ . running around with a hard-on and going through women like Hugh Hefner - jesus, give it up. You guys protest too much and you are as annoying and sad as a dog humping peoples legs)… And even if Patrick Stewart is, or was, gay - SO WHAT? He isn’t going to be parking his Mercedes in my driveway, what do I or anyone else care?

Alright. Whatever. It’s not my business.

Read an article the other day discussing how Harry Hamlin played a gay character in a movie and everyone assumed he was gay and he’s not. And it hurt his career too until he was cast in LA Law 4 years later.

Perhaps they remember when Patrick Stewart played Frasier Crane’s “fabulous friend.”

Non sequitur.

Non sequitur.

I always assume a person is gay, unless proven otherwise.

Well to a stereotypical American don’t most Brits come off as a little bit gay? Isn’t that a trope in tv shows and movies, combine that with being a thespian and keeping in shape and Stewart seems like he would be ripe for a rumor at least if nothing else.

I say that as a huge fan of Patrick Stewart.

Sorry, but unless your uncle confided personally in you (and it doesn’t sound like he did) you don’t know that he was bisexual. snfaulkner was right when he said children/marital status is not a reliable indicator of sexuality - and that includes bisexuality. Your uncle may have been bisexual. He might also have been homosexual, but really liked being a dad. He might have been something else altogether. The fact that he had two kids tells you he slept with a woman at least twice, and not much more than that.

When my buddy was a film student at USC, PS invited him for a weekend in Palm Springs.

I invite you to share this opinion with Joey Barton.

Stewart has always given me the impression of someone extremely comfortable in his own skin. If he were gay, he’d just come out and say he’s gay.

Well, who hasn’t done that???
