Paula Deen

Well, what do you know. Message board user LonesomePolecat, who feels that it is manifestly unjust that American public establishments no longer retain the right to refuse customers solely on the basis of their race and is of the opinion that it is “foolish to believe that Anglo-American civilization can be sustained without a white majority” also doesn’t think that Paula Deen should face societal censure for instituting racially discriminatory workplace policies and constantly blathering about “niggers”.

who would ever have predicted this startling development.

Anyone who has done a post search on LP and discovered what a Fox news loving, superstitious right wing racist, sexist, uneducated and unenlightened idiot he is.

Some more Lonesome Polecat greatest hits:

Crazy, paranoid, impotent white southern male ranting at anyone who doesn’t follow his parents’ POV. Problem with LP is, he can’t keep a woman around long enough who can keep his sheets white while he jerks off to Nuge videos. He’s just mad that he didn’t TEVO enough Paula Deen episodes before she got canceled.

I guess I didn’t really pay attention to it. Keep reading, I’m sure you will find lots of gramatical errors.

  1. I’m aware that she has confessed to using the word on other occasions but she also said that it was a long time ago.
  2. So what, she brushed off inappropriate jokes. Sorry, I have worked in lots of restaurants in college, been in the military and currently work in law enforcement. I have heard all sorts of inappropriate jokes. If one more person ask me what do you do with a woman with two black eyes one more time, I swear… Sorry, they don’t bother me. If it does, I say so and fortunately, I am around folks that respect that. Stand up comedians getting paid for those jokes now, I guarantee, one day weren’t being paid for it, but were telling those jokes. Besides.. thats public. Paula was NOT going around public saying that stuff ever.
  3. I don’t know if Hollis was insulted, but lets say he was. Even you believe she did so ignorantly, because she self justifies the behavior by believe her and Mr. Hollis are close enough friends to do so and maybe they are. Inappropriate for public behavior and racist, sure, but I still put her down as an old oblivious one.
  4. His slaves were his workers. I don’t believe the term necessarily means payment, but for that matter, many southerns probably said the slaves were paid because they were fed and housed. I think it’s sad when someone because so disbonded that they kill themselves. He lost his son too, so things were pretty bad for him regardless. If it was your grandfather, would you not be sad?

Listen man, I am not claiming that people are ripping Deen without any justification. I have said multiple times that they are doing it based of incomplete or bad information. The media is not reporting a fair story from what I have read.

Thanks, I am surprised by the name calling. Maybe Great Debates is more my tone.

I agree with this, but I am pretty sure Paula Deen is not wanting anything to do with this sort of attention.

Or maybe, judgment should be with held until the courts have determined if she was infact using discriminatory practices in the work place.

If my grandfather had been a fucking asshole who thought it moral to actually treat human beings like property and steal their labor, I would spend the rest of my life trying to apologize for being related to one of the world’s lowest forms of life. The fact that Deen feels sorry for the grandfather and not the human beings he enslaved is sickening.

I can’t believe we’re having a conversation about the morality of slavery nearly 150 years after the end of the Civil War.

Well, apparently in the South they haven’t caught up yet – at least as of 1983 (30 whole years ago!), if we’re to believe this thread.

Neither had MTV apparently. Circa mid 80’s MTV music video.

RO time traveling hindsight is pretty facking funny.

Maybe somebody should dig up stuff that was shown on the major TV channels in the 60’s?

Or Movies even. Disney’s Song’s of the South with Uncle Remus? perhaps?

Do you think the only thing anyone can be judged for is something that can be sued over? That if she can’t lose a lawsuit, no one can judge her acts or statements?

I feel sad that Lizzie Borden is an orphan and the mother of OJ Simpson’s kids is dead.

BTW, it’s “despondent”, and you spelled lose (looze) as loose in a previous post, and you’re a fucking idiot.

That’s it! I’m not buying anymore Taco albums.

Bullshit.

Now three questions for aag3981:

[ol][li]What’s your home planet?[/li][li]What language do they use there?[/li][*]Is the concept of Logic known there?[/ol]

I wouldn’t throw stones, Well-Scrubbed Thing from Kolob.

Oh, well, if some puppets sang a song about it.

Monty, did you find that funny? I need to know just how embarrassed I should be to have thought it was, or did before my Gentile GuiltTM kicked in and said, “We don’t make jokes about Black people so we don’t make jokes about Mormons, not even if they are obscure, even if nobody can hear us.”

I thought it was tongue in cheek. And, yes, I did chuckle a bit.

By the way, I’m a tad too lazy to go through the thread and check any and all links to see if this has been addressed: who really believes Deen actually had the experience she related about being held up? I’ve never heard of it before and I find it rather too convenient for her to trot it out now.

Who here has questioned the morality of owning slaves? I have ancestors that likely owned slaves and I don’t go around apologizing for it. I didn’t do it. I don’t own them now and believe it’s wrong, but times are much different. I wouldn’t expect anybody to apologize to me about how women were treated 100 years ago unless they were trying to treat me like that now.

Why shouldn’t Deen feel sorry for her grandfather? He went through a stressful, disruptive time in his life. Not just slaves mind you, he lost a child. I expect its the dead son thing that did him in, but folks on here only seem interested in reinforcing their own current opinions of a situation rather than consider other possibilities.
