PC/audio setup question

PC/audio setup question
OK, I have an hp tx2000z (스포츠 양방배팅 하는 방법 - pacificgeek).

In my bedroom I’ve got a Sanyo Z5 and a PS3 hooked up to the FP via component cable. I have a stereo on the way for audio, but that’s a week away. Looking for a temporary fix to get audio. I was wondering how I could possibly hook up the audio RCA cables from the PS3 to the computer. On the front, there’s three jacks, one says microphone, one looks to be a purely headphone out, and one looks to be a headphone out and SPDIF plug. I don’t really understand the SPDIF situation. I plugged one RCA audio cable from the PS3 into the microphone jack, Vista didn’t respond. The pure headphone jack didn’t respond. The headphone/SPDIF did have Vista noticing it, but I couldn’t get any of the PS3’s audio to play through the laptop. Any ideas on how I can get the audio from the PS3 through the laptop’s speakers?

Have you tried a pair of headphones in the headphones jack yet? Youll first need to figure out if its outputting anything at all before even talking about the computer.

If youre getting a signal then you should verify the mic jack in software isnt muted and that youre plugging into the right jack. I would also test this with very low volume and slowly raise your level. Im not sure if the output from the PS3 has enough juice to damage the sound card. I guess theres a chance youve already damaged it with your first attempts.
