Ergo, the elaborate puns that appear on occasional Sundays are doubly wonderful. I think I LOL’d at this Sundays more than usual, because it actually caught me by surprise – I didn’t see a pun coming.
So I thought I’d start a list, from memory. (I think it’s only necessary to list the punchline). I’m sure I’m missing some…please add:
We have nothing too fair but “Ferret’s Elf” (my first and favorite)
When I can tell that Pastis is setting up some horrible, contrived, utterly brilliant pun, my vision goes sort of narrow so that nothing can be read until that horrible release. And every time, when my wife reads it she accuses me of sending him ideas, because they’re the same things that I do to her on a fairly regular basis.
I rather liked the Cho Pezness one though.
Another good one: “Mr. Gorby’s Chef, Tear Down This Wah!” (from memory, exact results may vary)
