How is not wanting to tolerate/interact with people who wanna fuck little kids anything but a good thing?
Since we don’t shoot them in the head and we don’t (usually) imprison them for life at some point we’ll have to interact with them. That doesn’t mean we have to approve of them or their actions, but if we insist that at some point they re-enter society then I think we’re obligated to be at least minimally polite when we have to interact with them. If only to take the moral high ground.

No. My kids went to a school with a zero tolerance policy WRT guns. Point your finger at a kid and say “bang” and you earned yourself a suspension.
Likewise, I have a zero tolerance policy for child molesters. It’s not a protected class, for christ’s sake.

You’re not giving him any incentive to behave and obey the law - if he can not buy food why wouldn’t he steal? Honestly, you don’t see where this just perpetrates problems?
The bitter truth is that you probably HAVE interacted with a child molester/rapist/whatever - we don’t brand them, so in a brief social interaction how would you ever know? And then there are the ones who haven’t been caught yet, you almost certainly have encountered one of those, if not several, over the course of a lifetime. All sexual offender registries do is offer you the illusion of safety.
Also, the registries can ruin the lives of innocent people.
A guy with a name like (I’m changing it here from the actual story) Jim Smith was caught and prosecuted. His name was on the registry.
Another guy, completely uninvolved and unrelated, who happened to be named “Jim Smith” got the round of death threats, non-stop threatening phone calls, and his house was vandalized.
There’s a severe problem with the punitive philosophy here.

Maybe I should also point out that I don’t have children in my home - no doubt that does change my perspective. I completely understand that parents don’t want one of those asshats moving in next door, and that should be prevented.
However, I don’t get the “let them starve, torture them, etc.” meme, either. I mean, I loathe and despise child molesters, but I don’t desire to torture them, either. Give them a means to support themselves are a basic level (there are plenty of workplaces with no children), monitor their actions, but I don’t get the keep kicking them idea. Maybe I just can’t hate to that degree.
