I have a hard time understanding what makes for an attractive male. However, there are several people who I can honestly say are straight-up good looking. Meanwhile one of my best-friends (she’s bisexual) is always talking about who she finds attractive from both genders.
Who do you find to be overly good-looking despite your sexual orientation (If you are homosexual, feel free to post the members of the opposite gender that you still find overly attractive)?
Personally: Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, Josh Holloway, sometimes Ryan Reynolds…
We have different tastes in men, (with the exception of Ryan Gosling). Funny you bring up Josh Holloway because JUST can’t see how people would like him over that other dude from LOST. The other dude’s like… the hottest guy ever.
Sean Connery, Sam Elliot, Gordon Ramsay, George Clooney, Chris O’Donnell, Mark Harmon. And yes, if I were a young woman, I’d find older men much more attractive than younger men.
The only men I know to be physically attractive on my own are those who would be attractive as women if their features were sufficiently feminized (Brad Pitt, for example, or William Levy on DWTS). I have learned over time that the likes of Sean Connery, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, etc., are attractive to women, but I never would have known it otherwise. To me they are all just average looking guys (though Connery has an authoritive charisma that sets him quite apart from the average guy). As far as personal attraction goes though, all men are and have always been a sex-appeal flatline.
I just watched the entire cast of Mad Men on Inside the Actors Studio and the creator of the show mentioned that Jon Hamm had to audition like nine times for the lead role of Don Draper, and one of the reasons was that at one point the producers said, “He’s not sexy”. This literally caused several gasps of disbelief from the female members of the audience!
I’m a firmly entrenched hetero male, but even I laughed out loud at that statement. I mean, look at the guy!

Apparently, although I’m straight, I have a thing for women who are (or look like they should be) androgynous lesbians. I have no interest in having sex with any of them, but I think they’re attractive and interesting looking.
Many years ago, I caught part of an old Clark Gable movie on TV. I don’t know which one. Maybe The Caine Mutiny? The plot seemed to be “Clark Gable flounces around in a billowy shirt.” I was, shall we say, struck by Mr. Gable. He was just a really beautiful human being.
I though Gladiator was a so-so movie, but I was kind of mesmerized by Russel Crowe.
I don’t really want either of them near my dangly bits, but… Damn!
There are a good number of women that I’d go for if I were gay or a guy, instead of boringly hetero. But the original question is kind of misleading for me, as there are TONS of what I consider to be striking/attractive/beautiful women, but, as with men, typical good looks don’t usually do it for me. Jon Hamm, for example; he’s too…straight, or something. I prefer character.
An exception to that, for women, would be Sophia Viagara(yes I know that’s the wrong spelling, but if the pill fits… ) . Rawr!! I actually really LIKE her, though, or like what I can possibly know of her without actually knowing her. I think she’s a blast, and that’s a HUGE part of what makes her attractive to me.
I’m going agree with this. I realize that the best Depp has ever looked is when he’s all made up (JACK SPARROW). Although, some guys just have abs that are too much for me. I stare in awe at Ryan Reynolds abs.
And I’m noticing that long hair does it for me too.
I guess at the end of the day, the second I see a dick is the second I think “oh… maybe I’m not so attracted to this dude.”
