I’ve always found the “Fuck you [insert poster name]!” posts to be somewhat immature at best. IMHO, the only time someone should be called out is if they do not have an email address available, or they duck attempts at contacting them.
Even then I don’t see the need for calling them every name in the book just because you didn’t like/misunderstood/etc what they said. If you wouldn’t say something to their face, there isn’t really a need to say it just because you can hide behind a computer.

Back on topic, I agree that unless somebody posts something directed at you that is “offensive”, pitting is petty. I just don’t get why somebody should be so concerned that somebody else on a message board types something they don’t like. IMHO pitting is tantamount to “being a jerk”, and should be discouraged. I realize that other forums here don’t allow colorful language, but I believe any issue with something someone posts in a thread should be dealt with IN THAT THREAD.
