Hard to say for sure, but probably not. The word crap predates Crapper by some time, although crapper as a toilet does not. It seems like crap->crapper is a logical extension and that there’s no need to invoke Crapper, but I don’t know if it can be proven either way. Working against the theory is that crapper seems to be an Americanism while Crapper was English.

At any rate, even if crapper came from Crapper, it would not invalidate the aptronym, since the root word crap is a sufficent connection.

US General Norman Schwarzkopf has a last name that I believe means “blackhead” in German.

My stepfather’s last name was Boozer and he lived up to it. Sadly for me anyway, my mother ended up with that name on her head stone.
