People you've known whose names are oddly apt

The archbishop of Manila was named Sin, thus known as Cardinal Sin.

P.S. In Catholicism, a Cardinal Sin is an especially serious one.

I once knew of a gun show dealer named Outlaw.

Of course his display table had the bumper sticker, “When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have them”.

When I was young, our family dentist was Dr. Achen. (And, yes, he did pronounce it with a long “A”.)
His office was in the same building as an obstetrician named Dr. Love.

I’m sure I’ve posted this before. We used to have a couple veterinarians around here who worked at the same office, they were Dr. Bone and Dr. Howell (Howl).

A long time ago, when I was in High School we had a unique class situation where we met in a huge room for American History but that room was divided into 4 sections and had 4 instructors. One had the last name White and was black, one had the last name Black and was white and one had the last name Green and they were not green. The fourth instructor was forgettable, they didn’t fit the theme.

The girls’ gym teacher at our rival high school was Miss Lust, which was more than apt; those thighs are burned into my brain.

I know a guy with the last name of Feller, and another guy with the last name of Mann, and a third friend’s last name is Beu (with the German pronunciation “boy”).

The famous poker player, Chris Moneymaker.

I went on a bee keeping course last year given by Jeff Bee.

There is a term for all this by the way, which is “nominative determinism”.

A hand surgeon Dr. Nalebuff

I knew a practitioner of electrolysis named Mrs. Beardsley.

I know a pharmacist with the last name of Erb.

Never met him, but there’s a NASCAR driver named Lake Speed.

Would’ve been better if he raced boats.

Not to mention Dick Trickle.

I know about a researcher on sex roles in child development named Beverly I. Fagot.

When living in Fremont, California I saw a dentist named Dr. Chew.

Though I never saw him personally, when I was in school in Madison, WI in the 1980s, there was an orthopedic surgeon who was frequently featured in ads for the local hospital: Dr. Bonebreak.

In the town I grew up in, there was an M.D. whose last name was Sickman. Also a lawyer whose last name was Case.

Don’t be so sure, though. A local gynocoligist here is named Dr. Finger.

A banker two counties over has the last name Money.

Olympic gold medalist (4x100 relay) DeeDee Trotter.

No mention of Anthony Weiner yet?
