Perhaps not all publicity is good publicity

So much of the local paper is not worth reading these days. Until I ran across THIS little nugget:

So many questions.

What kind of dog?

Did they actually post the recording or share it with someone?

Was there enough bestiality going on at some time that regular animal abuse laws were insufficient?

Will the puppies be raised Catholic?

Nothing surprises me anymore.

Both alcohol and peanut butter may have been contributing factors

Yikes! I don’t want my algorithm contaminated by clicking on that link.

We had a similar case locally not long ago (authorities named both the alleged woman perpetrator and her dog, Morty).

No mention of the dog breed in that case either.

Mass media keeps letting us down.

You definitely don’t want to get a good look at that couple.

I told y’all that peanut butter vodka was evil!

I believe it’s standard media policy not the reveal the breed of the victim.

I was curious where on Earth this happened, and like many local websites, nowhere is it obvious what area the Lake and McHenry County Scanner serves. No state (or country, for that matter) is listed anywhere that is obvious.

On the masthead of the main screen? Nope? Clicking on “About Us” at the bottom of the page? Nope. Finally clicked on “Contact Us” which included a mailing address! They are in Gurnee, Illinois.

(At least they included a mailing address. Many local websites simply include a web-based contact form, with no mailing address or phone number, so they could be on Mars for all anyone knows…)

An unlucky one.

Yes, that’s a frustration when someone provides a link to an article on a local news site. Just where is this newspaper/website/whatever located?

Same. Not looking at it. Eff an algorithm I don’t want any visual(real or imagined) in my head. Not enough brain bleach in the house.

Ick…in fact this whole thread has a bad odor.

Gah! Why did I type that…?

So, in this case the old dog is a new trick

Is the dog OK?

How many other animals has this sicko abused?

Don’t wanna start a kerfuffle but the only right thing to do is euthanize that dog. This is my opinion. Not a soap box I wanna climb on.

Normally I’m against euthanasia except for very sick, old and in pain animals.

That animal has suffered enough. Mentally and surely physical assaults can’t be soothed away.

I say put him out of his/her misery. Poor thing.

What the fuck? How is that in any way an appropriate thing to do?

Is this supposed to be a joke? If not, I have no idea what triggered these bizarre comments.

I’m not gonna argue it. It is what I think is right. You are free to believe the way you do.

ETA, on reflection maybe that is a knee jerk reaction. I’m sorry if I offended any one.

What else are we supposed to do for sexual assault victims? Let them live?

The incident happened in Huntley, about an hour NW of Chicago. Right off of I-90, about halfway between Chicago and Rockford.

They seem curiously insistent on repeating that it was in Huntley, by people from Huntley., dealt with by the Huntley police. In Huntley (in case you weren’t paying attention). Anyone would think the place (that’s Huntley) had a doubtful reputation already.
