Period Wording

Mousey’s woken from his monthly hibernation…

Yeah, but PMS = Pre-Menstrual Syndrome. So, isn’t it supposed to mean the stuff that happens BEFORE your period? To weaken my own theory of usage, I have certain annoying symptoms that are exactly the same before AND during, but I have friends who get relief from certain “PMS” symptoms (breast tenderness, bloating <–I hate that word, bitchiness) as soon as they get their period. Slight hi-jack, who else uses “PMS-ing” for the time period (heh) during the period?

I personally would say “it’s that time of the month” or “she has her period”, nothing else.

“I’m on my period” and “She’s on her period”

On seems to be more prevalent around here.

It would be the basis for this slightly blue joke I heard in 7th grade.

A guy is chatting up a woman in a bar and they hit it off. He says, “your place or mine, baby.” She replies that it doesn’t matter, but he should know she’s on her menstrual cycle. He replies, “That’s ok, I came on my bike.”

Choking the white mouse.
Mother Russia in her panties.
