What color IS periwinkle? I always thought it was kind of a purplish pink, but from what i hear it could be a pinkish blue. Who knows?

Isn’t the color of the bars at the top and bottom of each thread page (the part that says Author, Thread, the time, and have the Post Reply/New Thread buttons) dark periwinkle?
I don’t doubt for a moment that this is a colour swatch that somebody has decided to call ‘Periwinkle’, but if the colour is defined as approximating that of the petals of Vinca Spp, then I don’t think the above link portrays the colour very well at all; there is not enough red in it (it isn’t ‘purple’ enough).
Blue/purple flowers are notoriously difficult to photograph and there is no guarantee that what looks right on my VDU will look the same on anybody else’s…but…I would say this photograph offers a reasonably accurate rendition of a typical periwinkle flower colour.
