A strange observation … whenever I see an online personal ad from a woman with an emo look about her – mainly, she’s wearing little rectangular-framed emo glasses, she’s always looking up, off to the side, down, or anywhere but straight at the camera lens. The look says “I’m so bored with life.”
What’s the deal?

It is a bored with life thing. They don’t use caps or emoticons either.
I think it is a looking at themselves thing. And it is more universal than emo girls. I have seen it quite a bit on ICU as well. They are looking at their image (on the monitor) to make sure they look OK, which is usually next to or below the camera.
There is a website (no time to look for it now) that has the “rules” of emo…and the photo thing is one of them.
I tried to find that page, but google just scoffed at my requests, proclaiming over and over again that: “Emo RULES!!!11”
That’s because the geniuses at google decided that smaller common words like of, and, and the should be excluded from searches. Good luck with a search on The Who.
The whole emo thing is an attitude. The kids are lonely, sad, depressed, heartbroken and all that other crap. They do that to the camera probably because they think they’re ugly, among other reasons.

Yes, you can search for Emo Girls with Google. Use the Advanced Search feature of Google. Type in “Emo Girls” (without the quotation marks) in the Exact Phrase field.
This single search result, about halfway down, links to about a dozen webpages including ones with rules on how to be EMO =)
Using + and - modifiers on your Google searches can make or break ya!
I always called it “emo eyes”. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to makeoutclub.com but as far as I remember the majority of girls point their eyes the same way.
