Pet pictures!

That was an inside joke. All of my gf’s other horses are/were gaited horses (Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox Trotter, etc). Mac was a wonderful horse she owned for 25 years (he was six when she bought him). When people toured our barn, Mac (who was a very big, black horse) caught everyone’s eyes. My gf always described him as “just a quarter horse”. He was my favorite for trail rides. Solid as a rock.

Oh, lovely. Alas, there are horse people who look down on “just a” Quarter Horse as lesser than their special-purpose breed of choice, and I actually had someone put me and my Nick down with that “just a” type of crap many, many years ago (“He’s adequate, for what you need, for a Quarter Horse.”). The last laugh was mine, though; we trailered together to a dressage show (“Don’t wear white gloves, they’ll show how much your hands move.”) where I and my “just-a” placed well in our very first show, with Nick being his usual solidly sensible self, while her tests went disastrously wrong, with her Thoroughbred mare shrieking and resisting – heck, the mare kept neighing even when Miss Superior had me lead Nick to stand near the ring for her second test so the mare could see him. Didn’t help, heh.

I’ve ridden both Walkers and Fox Trotters. They’re both enjoyable mounts but I preferred the Fox Trotter’s gait.

My sweet girl passed away this morning

I’m so sorry. What a lovely girl.

Oh, Zyada. I am so sorry. What a sweet looking girl. I hope your memories become a comfort in due time. Big hugs to you.

I’m so sorry. She looks like such a sweetheart.

@Zyada I am so sorry!

You obviously gave her a very good life; she looks so comfortable and happy in that photo.

Zyada she was so beautiful. Hopefully our pets will meet us again,

I am so sorry to hear that. You have my deepest sympathies.

My Father once said, “The most grievous sin a [pet] can commit is being mortal.”

A memory of my late Schooner: A perfect illustration of why I often called him, in a loving tone, “No-Neck.” He purred loudly in that minimal neck.

I don’t care about the time change. I’m hungry now.

We had a very early, very heavy snow here in Colorado over the weekend. The cats were pleased with the results:

The other one didn’t hold still for pictures, but at certain points, they just melted.

Waaaay, waaaay too cute. I’d hurt myself rushing to get to the can opener.

This crazy cat lady, owned by a Siamese, is suitably impressed and more than a bit envious of the feline beauty at your house.

Please don’t tell my Moxie.

Thank you, but don’t encourage me, I have a ton of photos of Kai, since he’ll pose all the time, including from when he wanted out onto the catio despite the snow being up to his shoulders. He got too uncomfortable to come back through it, so I had to dig him a path back to the door.

Meet Bruiser! The shelter named him Gerald but I knew instantly upon meeting him that he was Bruiser, what with the crumpled ears (mites, now treated), massive feet (double paws in front, giant rabbit feet behind), and overall disreputable looks. He was skinny (body scale 3/10), rumpled, dull coated, stiff with arthritis.

Now he’s plump, sleek, moving freely thanks to monthly Solensia shots, and happy to be near me.

I bet he whined piteously till you saved him.

I bet he is happy to be near you!

And yes, those do look like Battered/Battering Old Tomcat ears, don’t they? even if they are actually from mites.

Hi Bruiser!

Is that eye color typical for a black and white kitty?
