Yep, and spoiled too!
What a good looking dog!
Good pup!
Turns out, that picture I posted upthread would be the last picture of Iggy I ever took. We had to let him go yesterday. I wish I could write some beautiful remembrance, as folks here do, but I’m not up to it and could never do him justice anyway. I’m comforted by the fact that we didn’t hold on to him too long and he had a wonderful life.
Oh, no! I’m so sorry, @Dung_Beetle! You called Iggy your favorite earlier in this thread, I feel for your loss. ![]()
I’m so sorry to hear that, dude.
Thanks, you guys. I’ve feared this day for years, and everything hurts right now, but we will get through it.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
You know that you did your best by him.
My sympathies as well. I recently had that heart-in-throat moment when I was going back through my photo album and came across the picture of one of my pets who had gone over the bridge and I missed him immensely.
But having those images preserved and available feels more like a welcome reminiscence than a painful reminder on the whole.
So sorry to hear that.
You gave a lovely poochie a good life.
You already did:
This is the way, the kindest thing we can do for them at the end, even though it cuts so deep into our hearts.
I can’t remember if I posted this… This is Oreo. She was a stray that was terrorizing our bird feeders. We trapped her to have her fixed. After she healed my wife couldn’t bear to re=release her to the streets so we adopted her. She seems completely at ease in our house and she LOVES our big Ginger (Logan) but so far she won’t let us pet her. Going on 9 months. But we love her dearly.
That is definitely a cat who’s at ease in your house!
The patting may come, in time. Or it may not. But either way, that looks a pretty happy cat.
Awesome! Now I want to do the same for Luna… is this a common game you play? How did you train him/her?
Thank you! Yes, we’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that it might not come and we are OK with that. We do have interactions; I throw balls down the hall and she chases them. In fact, sometimes when I’m making breakfast she will bring a ball to my feet to entice me to roll it for her. She also so loves to chase the feather-on-a-string toy.
She already knew how to stay when we leave the room. The Game starts with one of us getting the treats out of the bag in front of her and asking if she’d like to “play a game.” Then we just started hiding treats and releasing her from the Stay.
It took about a week for her to figure out that there always three treats, so we know she can count to three.
That’s cool!
