Luna being especially photogenic today:
I am not really a dog person, but I must say that Luna is a very good-looking dog. I wish you luck in teaching her to avoid skunks .
Not a guarantee, but: my Cat With The Loud Purr lived nearly three and a half years after that combination of diagnoses, with the help of her thyroid meds (and a whole lot of spoiling.) She was happy and active almost all the way to the end, which was gentle.
That’s encouraging–thanks. Nibber’s taken well to her thyroid meds and gained some weight. She was very unwell at one point, to the point where I had to carry her to food and water, and she could barely stand upright. Since then though she’s gotten almost back to normal. I have to rotate her foods a bit but she’s maintained a pretty good appetite. Her initial CKD diagnoses was stage 2, which edged into stage 3 after the thyroid treatment, so hopefully we still have a ways to go.
Luna is always especially photogenic. Love that dog!
P.S.- her fur looks especially glossy, almost as if she’s recently had a lot of baths!
Bernie was approaching 100 lbs when he had to stay overnight at the vet’s. When I came to get him the next day, his joy was so bountiful that 100 lbs of madly bouncing dog seemed to be trying to sit on my head. I somehow managed to stay upright!
Hmmm… <musing>… maybe skunk essence makes a dog’s coat glossy… <pondering entrepreneurial options>…
Alamo Skunks - get that San Antonio shine on your dogs coat!
I have the day off today. Bob is happy. So happy that he decided to ignore me and snooze on my bed. So I decided to bother him and try to get a decent selfie with him. To paraphrase Chris Knight, I succeeded, but I failed.
The thing is, when you’re home he can really rest, because he doesn’t have to protect the house from intruders. 'Cause you’re there to protect him, get it?
Of course, there is the problem of intruders who come for both of you while he’s asleep… oh well, I’ll think about that after my nap.
I had to share this picture. This is Huck and his new friend at daycare, Berta. They’re the same age! 11 months - still puppies.
A lovely illustration of what recent human breeding has done to the species.
Also a pretty picture of two friends in the snow!
Beautiful dogs!
Bobby playing with his magic biscuit in the snowy back yard.
Bobby gets an ostrich bone (note: these things are friggin’ messy. My living rug looks like it needs three gallons of Head N Shoulders dumped on it).
Good sized yard for Bobby! He’s fast, but Luna is still young and has that explosive first step.
Woke up to a rare sight in San Antonio – several inches of snow. Here’s my dog Sweetie gamely going out to pee at 4:00 AM (when ya gotta go, ya gotta go). Good doggie! Needless to say, the cats are having none of it!!
Today is President’s Day in New England. Another day off with Bob, who is currently lounging on the couch next to me, wistfully staring out the window. It’s like 15 degrees outside, so he can stare all he likes - I ain’t going anywhere.
Here’s Bob with his ostrich bone before he turned most of it into aviary confetti on the rug. Say, here’s a weird thing: that other little bone in front of him … it’s this little rawhide thing - comes two to a bag. He could chew it up, swallow it, digest it and shit out in the backyard in about an hour, but he’s been toting it around the house for a month. It’s like his security bone. There’s not a tooth mark on it.
But then things got weirder. I heard Bob busy in his room this morning and I left him in there to have his fun and when I went into to check on him, imagine my surprise to see the art project he’d built for me in the window:
BONEHENGE:
@JohnT The San Antonio board at Reddit is full of cool snow pictures. (Including the one I posted here.)
Oddly enough, I have never joined Reddit.
Luna… hates the snow. Just detests it. What a good girl!
You don’t have to join it to read it. It is definitely a mish-mash of craziness, obsession, and some real knowledge of obscure topics. It can be visually overstimulating before your eyes figure out where to look.
Here’s the San Antonio subreddit for when you run out of other stuff to look at. I usually sort by “new.”
From what I’ve heard, this is the most snow since the mid-1980s. Wouldn’t be surprised.
