Pet thread!

They are all adorable.

My dog, Polaris, does the same thing. (I’ve never been able to get a photo of her sprawled out on her back in the bed because she’s such a light sleeper.)

Sirius prefers to sleep under the covers on a pillow. In a pinch, he’ll use Polaris for his pillow.

(And here is one of Sirius in his hoodie sweater, just bceause it’s cute.)

Bean prefers a location where she can keep an eye on our comings and goings. She often sleeps in doorways or at the top of the stairs.

Lissa’s doggies look like a pack of fun and luv.

dwyr, how do you get such nice closeup cat portraits? And with no flash in the eyes?

The girls.

Havoc en repose

Pixel, disturbed.

Morgana and Willow protecting their master (who looks like he’s plotting something).

Here is my menagerie.

Molly and Punky (Punkin) are littermates that are two of four that were found in my neighbor’s storage barn. The neighbor kept Polly and Smut. Polly is also calico and Smut is black.

Rio is the spare kitty we got when we knew Trouble was dying. He does a good job of filling the hole in our hearts that Trouble left. In fact, he’s so like Trouble that I sometimes screw up and call him by the wrong name.

Ladybug is a lab mix that belonged to Himself’s father, who asked me to take her when he was dying.

Jasmine is a black-mouth curr (probably mixed?) that was dumped in the parking lot of Himself’s job.

I love 'em all so much.

So many wonderful animals here!

Here are my two cats: Sy and President Carter . Sy was adopted with his brother Ko , who died shortlay after the adoption. :frowning: Sy is a pathetic mama’s boy who is spoiled rotten. He had an aural hematoma which caused his ear to be crinkled.
President Carter was adopted 9 months later as my auxillary back-up cat. Carter is a classic ‘scaredy cat’, and could seriously use a valium. But he has a serious long tail, and that makes up for it. :D.

I’ve posted a bunch of my cat’s pictures here, but I’m always up for more, if you are…

The Late Great Erica . She passed away in August 2006 at the ripe old age of 20.

How I like to remember her.

Marty, the Good Boy . He’s a 13 year old male, and the only cat we’ve had that’s known every cat we’ve ever had.

Being the elder male has taught him patience.

Marty at rest

Finally, the incredibly spoiled, rescued kitten, the World Famous Cuervo.

That’s a recent picture - about a week ago.

This is him at 3 weeks, with his namesake.

One of my favorite pictures of him - about 3 months old.

This is Juno . He’s trying to pretend I’m not there. When this picture was taken, he was apparently pissed at me for the transfer to his new cage. We decided he did not need about 40sf of cage space once he was the only one left. I wish I could find my picture of Juno the big Dutch, chasing Daedalus the big white Dwarf (big for a Dwarf, still smaller than Juno), who was in turn chasing Icarus the teeny buff Dwarf. That is my favorite pet picture of all time.

Sadly, Icarus died from Pasturella soon after we got her. Daedalus lasted about 3 years. Juno is 5-1/2 and going strong.

Despite the fact that the little dork hates me, I can’t bear to think of losing Juno. He’s such a sweetie. I know it’s possible for a Dutch to live 10 years, but it’s more common to live 5-7. At almost 6, he’s free of illness and injury. I think it might be time for another checkup though, just to be on the safe side.

Driving Miss Daisy-Diesel.

The closeups are fairly easy, most of my creatures are lazy lap cats and I take so many pictures of them they quickly become blasé about it. (Seriously, I have tons.) The flash is mostly a matter of luck and maybe the lighting in my living room, I’m really not sure. I use an Olympus Camedia.
