PETA ad and pubic hair? Weird

That’s some serious fur. :stuck_out_tongue:

<shudder> imagine going down on that.

Not clicking on that link at work. Nope, nope, nope…

At the risk of taking this thread to a more serious place than the OP might have meant, I’m a little disturbed by the implication that pubic hair is automatically unattractive. Well, at least on women.

Now, that was just strange.

I’m a tree-hugger, I’m green, I do animal rescue. PETA’s opinon about house pets totally outrages me. PETA used to do some good works, not anymore IMO.

However…beautiful men and women wearing nothing but broccoli and handing out vegan food on the side of the road is a good thing. I don’t think I’d have stopped to eat and look with fur hanging under the broccoli.

I like a trimmed bush. But when the hair pokes out of the undies? Thats some serious hair.

Probably not safe for work. Her nipples are covered by her hair, and she is wearing fairly modest panties with what looks like real fur hanging to midthigh. I’m guessing that her panties are trimmed with fur…or that is the point or something.

Looks like the hair/fur was jammed inside the panties.

PETA began as a wonderful idea. I’m very much against animal cruelty. I’m glad steps have been taken to help animals and improve their lives. But, PETA has just taken some bizarre positions in the past few years. Aren’t they against wearing leather now? Eating eggs?

I’m old enough to remember when men were attracted to women with natural features, including a “nice bush.” Luckily, there are enough women out there who don’t have make their privates look like a newborn baby’s (ewww) to still feel attractive. Of course this could open up a whole feminist vs. pop culture v.s acceptable societal memes vs. modern fashion sense vs. what pedophiles find attractive about a shaved po po vs. the good old days vs. I hate/love/don’t care about that stuff thread.

So, I’ll give my opinion instead. The ad is silly and seems ineffective to me (see “nice bush” comment above). I read in The Washington Post several years ago that most “fur” lined apparel uses either synthetic “fur” like rayon or polyester. This was considered false advertising and wrong. There was another article in The Economist, I believe, about how at least one Chinese manufacturer was busted for using cat and dog fur on the cuffs of their high end coats. It should have been fox, rabbit, or mink. So, PETA has publicity competition from some pretty heavy hitters in favor of using fur lining. As long as it is actually the right kind of fur. Oh well.

It’s a stupid ad. I’m also offended by the suggestion that pubic hair - at least on women - is inherently unattractive. Maybe the idea is that pubic hair that escapes the confines of underwear is ugly, but it’s a stupid ad that has no effect on my ideas about eating meat.

The ad states that “Fur Trim - Unattractive” so does that mean we can’t trim our fur?

The ad is unattractive. I used to agree with PETA on some things. But they have become a carbuncle on the foot of humanity, always giving us pain signals as they try anything they can to get our attention. Change the channel PETA, you became so irritating we have put you on permanent “mute”.

That was one bizarre ad – at first I thought it was literally saying “Don’t trim your fur, it’s unattractive!”, i.e. don’t shave your pubic hair. But that seemed to conflict with the visual. So I looked it up on Google and found out what “fur trim” means (apparently it’s fur sewn onto the edges of coat hoods and the like?), and that this is apparently part of a series of ads encouraging people to boycott something called Burberry.

“If anybody wonders ‘what’s this with all these reforms?’, you can hear us clearly. Our goal is total animal liberation, and the day when everyone believes that animals are not ours to eat, not ours to wear, not ours to experiment [on], and not ours for entertainment or any other exploitive purpose.”

“Thinkers may prepare revolutions, but bandits must carry them out.”

Ingrid Newkirk, PETA President

One of my “favorite” stupid PETA initiatives of the past few years was when they demanded that the Green Bay Packers (originally named for their original sponsor, a meat-packing company) change their team name, since it glorified the killing of animals for food.

What PETA really stands for.

Mmmm…furburger…

Yet another successful PETA campaign.

What are you talking about?

PETA!

Success!

(Although they claim to have other goals, I don’t believe them. They do stupid shit, and people engage in recreational outrage about their stupid shit, and everybody’s happy.)

How did Yosemite Sam get into her panties?

I know it’s not the focus, but did anyone else notice this :

“People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, based in Norfolk, Va., is courting controversy with an ad comparing wearing fur to women sporting public hair.”

When it’s that long, I supposed you can’t avoid it being public too.

I’m glad that it’s active, sporting, pubic hair, and not that lazy couch potato pubic hair.

Does she use a straightener or some other hair product?
