Black-Irish?
Although, on the episode with Mel Gibson he said something like “See this? [pointing to Marge’s wedding ring] This symbolizes that she’s my property, and I own her!”
Hmm… they’re both animated.
Peter’s Catholic (although he doesn’t really understand the doctrine that much). Homer…isn’t.
Yeah, I meant to mention that. The Simpsons make some pretty odd jokes about Catholicism sometimes. (Like when Grampa is dying and Marge asks if Rev. Lovejoy is going to do the last rites. He says “That’s Catholic, Marge, you might as well ask me to do a voodoo dance!”)
The main difference is that Homer is a nuclear safety technician, whereas Peter is a demented sociopath.
Can someone elaborate? I stopped watching the Simpsons about 3 years ago.
It was a Halloween episode. Homer discovers that if he spins very quickly while in his hammock, a clone will pop out. These clones are willing to do his work, his chores, etc, so he creates a whole bunch of them.
Eventually, things get out of hand and there are hundreds of clones. A shot of them all standing together highlight the small random mutations that take place now and again. Some of the Homers are deformed, some of them are from earlier seasons, one is the original Homer from the Tracy Ulman show. And sitting right in the middle is Peter Griffin.
Thanks, Johnny Bravo. I’m going to have to track that down.
I’ll give you the other two, but when did Peter ever cheat on Lois? Or even talk about cheating on her?
I’d say Homer has gotten closer to cheating on Marge than Peter has to Lois, unless there’s an episode I’m forgetting or something.
I haven’t seen every episode of family guy (I’ve seen every Simpsons), and while I can’t think of an episode where Peter cheated on Lois, he does admit in “Let’s Go to the Hop” that he thinks about other women in bed to “speed things up.” In fact, he takes a high school girl to a dance in that one and seems interested. In another episode, Peter nearly gets Lois killed by the mob; I don’t think Homer’s ever done that to Marge.
The thing with the “cheating” issue is that, while Homer came close with Mindy Simmons (and had a thing for Maude Flanders), Homer is capable of feeling emotional conflict (i.e. he’s attracted to Mindy but thinks it would be wrong, so he eventually turns her down). Peter isn’t quite that deep.
Say - not to hijack, but something has been on my mind for the last day or so. How old are the Griffin kids? Is it ever stated if Meg is older than Chris, or vice versa?
In regard to Peter Griffin, it is like someone followed me around and made me less funny. It is really nice that he is no longer around. Where did he go?
IIRC, Meg is 16 and Chris is 13.
There was an episode where Meg was checking out a college, so I’d guess 17.
Or, better yet, “Women are not people. They are objects created by the Lord Jesus Christ for our entertainment.”
He didn’t seem sexually interested. The impression I got was that he wanted to take Connie to the dance to gain popularity. In the end, he does realize that even that was wrong and dumps Connie for Meg before riding off to certain death on his motorcycle. As a consequence, Meg’s popularity soars (at least for the remainder of that particular episode).
Close. Remember the Pretzel Wagon episode?
It’s hard to say, since the issue never came up. The thing with Meg that I just mentioned would seem to suggest he has some sort of understanding of others’ emotions, though.
I did, but I didn’t realize until now that HE went to Fat Tony, not Marge. I like both shows, but this is making Family Guy look a little less creative…
Although he does exclaim “Sweet statutory!” upon seeing her. While I agree with your point about Connie, he still has the comment about thinking about a girl from high school when in bed with Lois.
