Peter Jackson and the Lord of the Rings cast get together for Zoom reunion

The LOTR cast (and others) gather for general merriment, fond memories, some key scene reenactments, a trivia contest and, of course, a good cause!: https://nerdist.com/article/lord-of-the-rings-cast-reunion-zoom-josh-gad/

Thanks for sharing - I’ve saved the YouTube video to my watch later playlist.

He’s done the “Reunion Apart” for The Goonies, Back To the Future, and Splash as well.

My wife and I watched it last night and it exceeded our expectations. They got almost everyone and even recited scenes from the movie.

Looks like everyone loved the experience and was thrilled to briefly re-live those times.

I loved it!

Interesting to learn that Sean Bean’s famous and meme-ified “one does not simply walk into Mordor” speech was written the night before, and Sean didn’t have time to memorize it. His pondering downward gaze at the start was actually to read the script he had taped to his knee.

My favorite new story from the reunion.

If you watch DVD making of, you can learn that Bean was so terrified up in the mountains, they were worried he could not perform his “suffer so much for so small a thing” scene.

Bean performed it the way it is in the movie and Viggo Mortensen asked him if he was thinking about the helicopter ride down during that scene. Bean said, “The. Whole. Time.”

Every time I see that scene, I say to my wife, “He’s thinking about the helicopter ride.”

She rolls her eyes at this point. (I always point out details in this movie).

I’ve finally got around to watching this. I really enjoyed it, and it looked like the participants did as well.

As an aside, I saw Ian McKellan’s one-man show last year, and he opened by narrating the whole Balrog scene from the book. Then he produced Gandalf’s sword and invited a member of the audience up to “have a go” with it. After the show, he was out in the theatre foyer shaking a bucket to collect for a local charity. What a dude.
