Philadelphia-Wake for Persephone

Copied from TruePisces’ LiveJournal at her request, clarification to follow:

Basically, as much as we want to, some of us can’t make it to Michigan, be it work, be it financial reasons, or any number of others. It was the idea of TruePisces that we have a wake for her here, in Philly, for anyone who wishes to come and celebrate Persephone’s life. I’ll be making reservations at one of the two places on Monday or Tuesday (if anyone as a preference to which place let me know) so post in this thread or send an e-mail to wphill@mac.com to let me know if you wish to come.

I’m nowhere near Philly and I didn’t know Persephone, but I just had to say that is a beautiful gesture.

I’m in Orlando. I will observe a moment of silence on Tuesday.

One of few regrets I have about moving from NOVA ro SWVA is the difficulty in making fests up north. Including, in all likelihood, this one. 600 miles, give or take a few, from where we’re living, and if we left right after work ends for me we’d be getting there around 1 AM. If we left right after class it’d be midnight, averaging 60 mph.

We’ll be doing the observing with (time-wise) ivylass:slight_smile:

Sorry to hear you guys can’t make it.

Just don’t tell TP that you could make it around 1am. She’d have us there all night just to wait

Dave and I are planning to make it.

I’ll be there.

I want to hear some good Persephone stories.

I’ll be there.

I suggest Eulogy, BTW.

And you’d have a problem with this HOW?!!!

Besides, it would be true Cristi tradition. She stayed at the Fests as long as she could. The one in NY two years ago, she was still there when I left at 2am. It would be fitting.

I never said I had a problem with it.

The only thing holding me back at all is class the next day, and that won’t hold me back much at all

I’ll be there.

Once a location is chosen, my wife and I could use a hotel recommendation: ideally, cheap, close, and safe. We’re flexible on the first two.

RT, let me look around for you a bit. I’ll e-mail you tonight with some possibilities (the two places aren’t that far from one another).

The more I think about it, though, the more I’m thinking Eulogy might be better. Particularly because of the music mix I want to bring along - I’m not sure if there’d be a place we could play music at Fado. (Of course, Fado has Guinness…)

I have a friend who could get you a night at the Ritz-Carlton for around $100. I’ll have that confirmed by tomorrow. As far as hotel accomidations go you can’t get much closer than that, it being dead center of Center City.

Eulogy it is then. I’ll call in this afternoon for 20 with the warning it may grow considerably. (I’ll basically try to reserve the 2nd floor as we all likely won’t fit in the coffin room).

The Doperealers will be raising a glass to her this weekend.

Would this be the 12th or the next week? We are broke as all get out right now, but might have the cash to come down after that. In any event, it’s a good idea.

(Incidentaly, we only saw about Cristi Friday eveing before we were leaving for a concert, and raised a glass to her there. I tried to post before we left, but it got eaten.)

It’s the 12th. If there’s any way you can make it, we’d love to have you there. If not, come down some other time. You know I’ll help you raise a couple glasses.

i’m in.

I called Eulogy today. They don’t take reservations but will set space aside if we give them enough warning beforehand. I’ll call in around 5:00 on Friday, so up until then, anyone who wants to come drop in and let me know so I can give them an accurate count.

If you want to come but aren’t sure if you can speak up too. Eulogy’s a small place so I’d rather give them too large of a number than too small of a number.

I’m going to have to give regrets for the Doors family. Airman may be going out of town, and Gramma can’t take Aaron Friday night. Our thoughts will be with you.
