Hi! Sorry for being absent. I am in for both walking tour (Can it meet at someplace easily accesible to the carless?) and restaurant. Menu 2 looks good for me.
Bingo…I look at a day like this as 25 bucks for a meal, a tour, and a couple hours of good conversation and fun. Quite a bargin…

WomanofScorn – any chance we could get you to reconsider and come down for the tour? You could at least meet some cool people (and a few dipsticks) and enjoy some laughs and camaraderie.
DaphneBlack – I’m thinking the corner of 6th and Market for the meeting place. Very easy to find from PATCO and the Market East train station (if you’re coming by SEPTA), and also convenient to the Market Street subway (if you’re coming from 30th Street Station/Amtrak). It’s on the edge of the loop I have in mind for the tour, has a low-grade historic site [where they found, then reburied, the slave quarters of Washington’s presidential home] for early arrivers, but isn’t so interesting that there will be other random groups of people there who might confuse the issue of “are these guys Dopers or not?”
This is starting to come together, people!
I’m good for the tour as well.
Quick question. Am I going to have to pay full price for the sprog’s lunch?
We are good for the walking tour. The sprog has seen all this before, but he enjoys it.
No.
One of these days, I’ll learn to read for comprehension.
Maybe I missed it but did we establish a time and place for the touring group to meet?

ultrafilter – probably not and maybe
So, we need any kind of response from Meros; Jimmy Chitwood may join us; Hal Briston will let us know about the tour; and ultrafilter will give a final decision on the brunch by Friday, when his weekend plans should be clearer.
And, of course, if anyone else wants to join us, you’d be welcome, as long as I get a firm decision on the brunch by noon Friday.
(BTW, the way the agreement with the restaurant reads, we’ve got our table till 4:30, so we can hang out at the restaurant till we’re all quite sick of each other.)
I was thinking noonish – SE corner of 6th and Market (see my note to Daphne Black above). Probably more time than we need, but there’s a good used book store a stone’s throw from the restaurant if we need to kill some time.
A bump and a question. Twickster mentioned a book store near our meeting place. I’ll be in the area for the weekend and I’d be interested in any recommendations for interesting stores I should check out. Interested in books, comic books, CD’s, and DVD’s.
Sorry for my absence from the thread. Life got interesting for me a couple of weeks ago and won’t be letting up any time soon.
My Sunday’s are kind of booked, but I might be able to pull this off, at least for the tour.
Put me as a maybe for both, I’ll see if I can make some arrangements this week to make things firmer. If you need to get the agreement in before I’ve said yes or no on brunch I’ll spring for someone else’s meal
Trust it’s good interesting and not bad interesting.
An answer by noon Friday is fine – and whispers we’ve got a little bit of wiggle room on the reservation – if it turns out to be one or two people more than I said, we’re still cool.
Hope you’ll be able to make it for at least part of the festivities!
Just realized I forgot to respond to this:
The bookstore I mentioned is The Book Trader, which is on 2nd Street just north of Market. (Sorry, don’t know the street address offhand.) There is a used CD store just north of there. On 2nd, on the other side of Market and the other side of the street, there’s a DVD/CD store, I think – walked by there but never been in.
There are also a couple of book/CD/comics type stores in the South Street area, but they tend to come and go – not sure what’s currently there and active, sorry.
Atomic City Comics is the only comic book store I currently know of on South street.

You might also be interested in Quakerhead Collectibles at 533 South street.
There is also a comic shop between 20th and 21st, on Sansom.
Two tickets have been purchased for this Sunday, so we’re definite!
Sorry guys, **Sr. Olives ** and I won’t be able to make it. I’m sick and he has a surprise project due. Have a good time on our behalf!
Darn, I was looking forward to seeing you. Well, you can hang on to that IOU for a tour of the historic district and I’ll do it with the two of you this summer sometime. guys
Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my previous post. I’ll be driving on this trip and so the “area” I was referring to is southeast Pennsylvania and most of New Jersey not just the immediate area of our meeting place on Sunday. In fact, I plan on driving out to King of Prussia on Saturday to go to the Compleat Strategist.
Ok, it’s for sure that I won’t be able to make it. Too many commitments to deal with here. Sorry, folks, was really looking forward to meeting you all! Have a great time
