I’ve got a severe hankerin’ for Dim Sum (evidenced by my continual pleas for them in the Dinner thread). So, I’ve come up with a date and approximate time (though no place yet). Saturday, June 21st, around 1pm. We could either make this our regular bi-weekly or have it in addition to the regular bi-weekly the night before (though I won’t be able to be there. My best friend/matron of honor is coming in for the weekend that night.) Either way, this is something I’d really like have people come around for. So who’s in?
What is Dim Sum?
Aside from delicious? 
Basically, the waiters and waitresses bring small steamers or plates of various foods (mostly chinese fare, I believe) to your table. You can then choose what you want from these for the table. They are usually small portions and anyone/everyone at the table gets to eat from them. Depending on the group, I’ve seen it run anywhere from $10-$25/person. (They charge you by the dishes, but they aren’t incredibly expensive, so it depends on how many different dishes that you get.) It’s as much an experience as it is a meal. If there’s any way you can (and if you like trying new things), I’d definitely suggest coming along.

Dim sum represents everything that is good and right about Chinese food.
I’ll run it up the flagpole with the Other Half (this is gonna be strange; I’m used to making these kinds of plans alone ;)) and see what he says. And since Aaron has tried and likes Chinese food, we may bring him along.

i thought about ordering it. i guess i am amused by bookstores going gaga and having an “opening” night for a book. i am looking forward to seeing the costumes and being part of the crowd.

Completely randomly, since I haven’t been able to get any recommendations of a good place to go yet, I’ll suggest Ocean Harbor at, say, noon? The address is 1023 Race Street. The time can be moved up or down a little, depending on what works best for people. Depending on the number that we have coming will depend on whether I’ll try to make reservations or not. Verrain and I will be bringing my best friend, HomeOfTheBraves (though she doesn’t know it yet… she doesn’t even know that I know she’s coming into town that day!). I know that Zappo has said he’s going to come. I’m trying to pull in a few more people as well. So it should be a fun time.
And anyone that misses out this time, I’m planning on having a Dim Sum lunch be part of the Labor Day Weekend Fest as well. So maybe we’ll catch you then.
