I, too, am interested in attending but am also under 21. The restaurant doesn’t automatically refuse service to underage people, right? (Monk’s looks like an alcohol-oriented establishment, so I’m unsure about that.)
I don’t think that it does, because it’s as much a restaurant as it is a bar. We weren’t carded when we went in the last time, and I seem to remember at least one family there, but I could be mistaken. I’ll ask when I call up to make the reservations, and if they don’t, I’m sure I can find another place that isn’t so discriminating.
Last I knew, you were still a probably. Glad to see you’ve decided to join us.
So, at the moment, that makes a total of 11:

Am I missing anyone?
Btw, sorry we didn’t get to meet up with you this last weekend, Meros. Things got FAR more complicated than originally anticipated. But don’t worry about your shyness. Believe it or not, I’m the same way when I get together with a group I don’t know. But, from those in the group that I do know (myself included), we’ll make you at ease in no time. It’s just that kind of group.
Monks doesn’t do reservations, and they said they are incredibly busy on Friday nights, so they pointed me to their sister location, Nodding Head Brewery and Restaurant, who do take reservations. I tried to call them this afternoon, and the gentleman I spoke to isn’t the one I need to speak to. So I need to call back tomorrow before noon to get our reservations set. They are the ones at 15th & Sansom, so maybe twickster was just a little ahead of the game.
I’ll let you know what’s up tomorrow after I talk to them.
Well, I just got off the phone with Nodding Head. As always seems to happen when I take control of things, I’ve got good news and bad news. Bad news first. They don’t take reservations on the weekends. However (and here’s where the good news creeps in), they said if we don’t mind a little bit of a wait in the bar (and I checked, even those under 21 can wait in the bar without problem), they should have no problem seating us. They are well aware that we’re coming around 6:30, so they’ll be on the look-out for us. They just don’t have a set reservation for our group.
So… we’re on for Friday night at Nodding Head at 6:30. See y’all there!
I think I am going to take the train – if I miss the 6:04 (which I might, unless I leave work a little early, which I might), the next train gets me to Market East at 6:47, so I wouldn’t get to the restaurant till about 7. You’ll be the Cecil Adams party, if I miss the gorgeous sign outside at 6:30?
I don’t think they’ll know us under the Cecil Adams party, since they wouldn’t take a reservation, but if you tell them you’re part of “that big group that came in around 6:30”, they’ll be sure to know who we are. I’ll try to have the sign that Frank made in a prominant place on the table, for any stragglers.
I can always pass along my cellphone number to you, incase you’re running late and want to know where to look for us…
(Actually, since we’ve had problems with this in the past, anyone that DOES want my cell number incase of problems, feel free to e-mail me and ask. My e-mail is in my profile.)
Just a little bump and a reminder that we’re meeting at Nodding Head tonight at 6:30. Since we don’t have a reservation, per se, anyone that wants to come down, last minute, can feel free to do so. Just meet us in front of the restaurant (or maybe in the bar, if it’s still raining!) around 6:30.
I’m bringing bookmarks and puzzle magazines. [sub]I’m not squeamish about buying friends, it’s less draining than actually being nice or anything.[/sub] See you at 6:30!
I’m going to try and make it tonght, but I can’t be positive. It seems I’ve caught some kind of bug: a cold, flu, ebola, the black plague, something like that. As long as I make it through the rest of the day in a reasonable state of health I’ll be at the restaurant.
