I recently downloaded Picasa 3 and I like its features, but there are two vexing problems I can’t figure out how to get around.
When I activate it, on the lower right hand corner a grey sidebar pops out and it shows the pictures being rapidly loaded, but I can’t get rid of it. Even if I x it out, it just pops right back up. How do I zap it for good?
All down the left side it shows all the different pics I have but many of them are album artwork, which I don’t want. I can only delete them one at a time, not en mass by holding the shift key down. How do I do group deletes?
I’m at work right now, so I can’t check on my own computer, but…
1: My first thought is that Picasa hasn’t finished loading all of your image files yet. That notification window keeps running until it’s got everything (usually from “My Pictures” folder, depending on how you set it up.) If Picasa has already found all of your images, I would guess you might need to re-install it.
I think Picasa searches/indexes pics on your hard-drive(s) each time you start the program. Too lazy yo open it on my compuier right now, but see if there is an option for ‘indexing’ or searching each time Picasa is run. I am pretty sure that grey bar is indicating its looking for non-indexed pics, but program may use a different term within the ‘options settings’ window(s).
I find Picasa a pia to use at times due to difficulties deleting a bunch at a time, too, and always just use Windows Explorer for deleting stuff (where Shift key means something).
OK - go to Tools / FolderManager within Picasa program (on toolbar up top). Should find what you seek within there. Notice where there is an option for “scan always”? Change that option and I think you are done (?). HTH
