Pickles on sandwiches

Pretty much this. I even like sweet pickles on my peanut butter sandwich. (try it, you’ll thank me)

I love pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, etc., but not in sandwiches. I always remove the “salad” and eat it separately.

I’m the same as the OP. The only sandwich I don’t either remove or order without pickles is the Cubano. I like pickles, but I prefer spears, on the side.

Chick Fil A does, as well. And I’m pretty sure theirs came first.

Ugh, I hate biting into a pickle on any kind of sandwich.
Never had a cubano, so maybe that would be an exception.

A little pickle juice in tuna salad is nice, but no pickles please.

Love pickles on a sandwich.

I know everyone here is talking specifically about cucumber pickles, but there is a world of non-cucumber based pickles out there that appear on sandwiches. Two I can think of off the top of my head are sauerkraut (for hot dogs and Reubens) and Vietnamese pickled vegetables on Banh mi. Those are essential.

Also, kim chee is wonderful with grilled meat, or, don’t laugh, on a peanut butter sandwich.

Quoted for truth. If there’s a tastier way to serve a hot dog, I am not aware of it.

I like them on most sandwiches. My standard order at Subway is ham and cheese with pickle only. I order my cheeseburgers pickle only. I eat my hot dogs with ketchup and pickle (yes, I’m from the Chicago area; no, I don’t care that I’m ruining the hot dog. That’s how I ate them as a kid). There’s something obscenely great about licking the residual ketchup and hot dog juice off the spear.

I feel like they add a bright kind of acid flavor to sandwiches, and that they kind of help accentuate the other flavors, particularly meaty/cheesy flavors. Some of that might be because I don’t like much else on my sandwiches; meat-or-meat-substitute, cheese, maybe cucumbers or sprouts, maybe a very thin spread, and pickles. Just…not sweet pickles, all right? Sweet pickles have no place on a sandwich, and only rarely a place on my plate.

Dill, sweet, and relish. I like them all, especially the homemade ones. Burgers, deli sandwiches, grilled cheese, chopped into tuna or potato salad, or just to nosh on.

See, if a pickle is included, I eat it separately. There’s already relish on the dog, no need to do that AND pickle (which is usually as big if not bigger than a standard Chicago dog) at the same time. How do you taste the dog otherwise? (Speaking as a born-and-raised Chicagoan.)

Cheeseburgers
Fried chicken sandwich
Chicago dog
Tuna salad
Reuben
Hot Pastrami

That’s it, that’s the list.

For me, a couple pickle slices (dill, preferably, not the overly-sweet bread-and-butter kind) is a must on a hamburger. Basically, anything with a reasonable fat content, I like to cut with some kind of pickled vegetable.

I like BLTs with pickles (and cheese), and tuna salad should have chopped pickles in it. A grilled cheese sandwich should come with a pickle on the side.

I do chop the pickle and mix it into the tuna.

I just to it with my teeth.

Seriously, it’s a matter of convenience for me. If I have pickle relish, I mix it in with the tuna fish when I’m making the sandwich. If I have pickle slices, I figure it’s unnecessary effort to chop them up by hand so I can mix them in. I just put them on top.

There are very few sandwiches that are not improved by the presence of pickles. (I suppose on a Monte Cristo it’d be a little weird.)

I love pickles. I love pickles on burgers but for some reason I don’t put them on a lot of sandwiches but rather eat them on the side.

Pickles on just about every sandwich for me. They are essential on a burger.

It depends on the sandwich, but I have to have them on a burger. My favorite pickle for sandwiches is bread and butter.

Pickles on a sandwich or burger is good.

Now onions, on the other hand…

Pickles Bad! I hate the idea of pickles on sandwiches or burgers. If I find one I’m likely to flick it into your face.

Relish, OTOH…
