Pictures: How do I put one in a post?

As long as me message gets across.

There’s a group of verbs, such as “is”, “becomes”,and maybe “grows”. These don’t take the object form.More or less the two things are equal, there is no action in these verbs. Therefore, it is I. When someone asks for you on the phone, don’t you say “this is he” or “this is she”?

Good grief, never thought one little word would wake up this thread quite like this! :o

Daughter of an English teacher, dating the son of an Enlgish teacher, former copy editor of a paper, current teacher herself speaking: “is” is a linking verb. Pronoun objects of linking verbs are written in the nominative (even if it sounds peculiar): “This is she.”

Ah, hell, I’ll just quote my Working with Words grammar and editing text:

Okay, so that last one sounds a bit goofy. But it’s correct grammar, no less.

Now, if I had made Brian and myself direct objects to an action verb, the case would have been objective: “Sunbear posted Brian and me on the thread.” Same thing if it was the object of a preposition: “Sunbear posted a picture of Brian and me.”

It’s that little “is” that makes all the difference. (That, and the fact that we were ultimately the subject of that particular sentence.)

Okay, gang, start studying: Quiz Friday!

Okay, here we go–my first attempt at a photo in a post! (I feel so virginal…)

This should be my cat Princess and myself when I was about four years old (to continue the “Dopers as Cute Rugrats” theme):
