Everyone already knows he’s an arse, but I happened to be in the UK for a few days after years away, and the first thing I see on TV: Piers Morgan being an utter arse. Some things never change.
The topic was the women’s soccer world cup, and for no reason Piers turned it into a gender wars thing.
He took the fact that an all-female panel were commentating on the game as proof that women are just as sexist as men given the chance, and they had obviously not picked the four best people for the job. (Even bearing in mind, that in panels like this, experience playing or coaching that specific event is often a crucial criterion)
He then started challenging the women to play a game against the men’s team, saying they would lose 50-0: you know, the kind of taunt a schoolkid would say.
And kept referring to the meteorologist as the “weather girl” even after she repeatedly asked him not to.
This was all within 5 minutes of watching the show, by which point I turned off.
I know he essentially only has a job because people like to watch conflict (and ignorance). But he genuinely seemed to piss everyone off and there’s a level of asshattery that can’t be faked.
