Pink Flord/The Orb?

I recently got a very interesting CD. It’s a trance remix of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, ostensibly remixed by The Orb. My friend, who burned the disc for me, wasn’t sure it was in fact The Orb who did the remixing, but that’s what he was told.

In other words, we don’t know who did this remix. Any Floyd fans hear this? Any Orb fans know about this?

It’s actually quite great, and a very modern interpretation of a classic album. I now have three versions of this album: Floyd’s original, Phish’s live version from last year, and now this remix disc.

i’ve seen these albums too, usually called “trance remix” as in “dark side of the moon trance mix”. there’s probably 5 or 6, just for pink floyd, and i think i’ve seen one or two other cds for other acts. sometimes it contains the whole album in ‘trance’ form, sometime it’s just half of the songs remixed.

i’m about 99.99999999% positive they’re boots, and therefore probably not from the boys in orb. i’ve been aware of the remixes for probably 5 or 6 years, i’ve held them in my hand. i’ve never bought one, mostly because they’re like 25 bucks, usually, and i’ve only read one or two reviews on a floyd fan site. the reviews were good, but until i hear a track for myself, to judge how good the trance versions are, i’m not gonna buy it. i love floyd, and i love trance, and hard trance, but somehow, i don’t see the two melding very well.

but i guess to answer the question, i’ve never heard they were from the orb. and i’ve seen the original packaging.

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t realize they were that old.

I forgot to mention, but you beat me to it. Yes, there’s more remixes than just DSotM. I also have Wish You Were Here, but it’s not nearly as good as DSoTM. My friend also had Animals and Meddle, but I didn’t get them from him.

Thanks!

what the hell is a ‘trance remix?’
