I would like to know the reasons why the people who think this wasn’t intentional and comments from the people who know the truth.
Because the producer of the album, and EVERY band member but Roger Waters has explicitly denied the so-called “connection.” This has been addressed by the SDSAB. Here’s the link.

Sheesh.
Also, because the album was released on vinyl, meaning that it had to be flipped over in the middle. This is why the synchronicity was never discovered until it was possible to play the whole thing through without pause.
Also, because it makes no sense for them to have done so. Also, some of the songs were written before the songs that precede them on the album (I believe “Us and Them” was performed live before the majority of the album was even written), and by different band members. Oh, and because at the time videotapes didn’t exist, so it would have been very difficult and pointless to try to compose an album to match the movie.
Finally, there’s no evidence to say that it was intentional.
Good work, fellas.
The first VCR (video casette recorder)was invented in 1956, but wasn’t for home usage until 1970. Which could have been pedicted for home usage.

If Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons said “yeah, we synched the album with the movie, oh and sure the h3ll outta us too!” Well, they’d get sued.

I believe in the early 60’s the 8track was invented. Allowing people to listen to their favorite music, continously (on my 8 track/record/tapr/ radio played anyway)
You are right that Us and Them was performed before the album was even written, i’ll give you that, but it was sung slower and with different lyrics i believe, wasn’t it? Again, videotapes did exist, but not for the common person.
The reason, i think, that Pink Floyd do synchs it for drugs. Its a great experience to see a great movie with the sound of a great album. Notice how the synchs are with popular movies.
There is very much evidence that the Dark Side/Wizard Oz synch was intentional. Just look at the album cover (and inside if you have the record) It has a white beam on black, goes into a triangle, and into a rainbow, goes into the inside with the rainbow and onto the back, goes into a triangle, and into the white beam and so on, continously. Like the movie, starting from black and white (white on black) going into color, and back into black and white.

its supposed to be sue not “sure”. my keyboard, it has a mind of its own. I forgot to add that Roger Waters hasn’t commented on whether the synch was intentional or not. Spiritus Mundi, from the song, Synchronicity 1 by The Police, right? Why would they name their song that? Might wanna look at the lyrics and the lyrics to the song Rainbows End, by Camel.
Aha! So because Parsons, et al, have NOT claimed that they synched it, that proves that they DID! Tricky!
Sorry, guy, but there would be no grounds for a lawsuit of ANY kind, if they did not appropriate someone else’s intellectual property. They COULD be sued for selling Wizard tapes without a license… but they never did.
The prism/rainbow/black/white issue you mention does NOT constitute “evidence.” It is an example of what we scientists call a “coincidence.”
The world is full of coincidences, kid. This is one of them.
Yours is a perfect example of a post which posits a theory, then requires dispositive proof of it’s validity. This is a logical fallacy, and the sign of a closed and inadequate mind.
I had a wife like you once. She’d ask me my opinion on something, then proceed to tell me why my opinion was wrong. Seems she merely wanted to expound on something which she believed AND start an arguement at the same time.
The fact that Roger Waters has not commented proves only that Roger Waters is either a truculent, taciturn bastard, or a crafty, covetous bastard. Maybe both. Or all four. But it doesn’t prove he did it.
Let me give you an example: Dubya has not commented on whether he humped my granny. Does that prove that he DID, and where does granny go to get some kind of complaint form?
Coincidence ain’t proof.

As has already been noted, this specific issue was addressed in a previous Staff Report (in fact, by yours truly). Therefore, I’m moving this thread to the area for discussing Staff Reports.

Thanks, David. That was a good article, BTW. Now, why don’t YOU set this clown straight for us?
Even the Mod-god David has limitations. Bending minds, alas, is not as easy as bending spoons(sorry, Uri).
WELL! My faith is shaken to the CORE, thank you very much!
I usually make fun of people and change the subject when they’ve struck a nerve and when i know i’m wrong. “I had a wife like you once. She’d ask me my opinion on something, then proceed to tell me why my opinion was wrong. Seems she merely wanted to expound on something which she believed AND start an arguement at the same time.”
Why’d farmeroak and david b. post at the same time? You people are weird. You said nothing about the lyrrics to the songs. why?
You seem to be implying that I have changed the subject. I assure you, I have not. You and the ex-wife seem to have the common trait of beginning debates in which you have no intention of participating, except to speak, not LISTEN.
And yes, I AM making fun of you. Your premise is ludicrous and your “proof” is HILARIOUS.
Wow, it seems that David and the Farmer DID post simultaneously… the odds against that must be ASTRONOMICAL, eh?
(I considered discussing the impossibility of ANYTHING being TRULY simultaneous, at the quantum level, but why go there?)
Lastly, I didn’t discuss the lyrics because they are irrelevant, outside of the few coincidences and rationalizations which you and your ilk seem to think constitutes “proof” of your whack-job theory.
It’s a great album.
It’s a great movie.
And they ain’t got nothin’ to do with each other.
Ya read em yet? Gonna make fun and change subject again? Hum ho…ummagumma, cool album… wow, whats this? The cover of Ummagummas studio album? What the!!! A soundtrack to the movie Gigi!!! Why is that there. It must be a coindidence that the album is synched with that movie and that the soundtrack isn’t there. Its just me. Hmmm, I like the album Meddle (which is synchronized with the movie Gone With the Wind) And I also like the song San Tropez. “As I reach for a peace” gots a good beat, don’t ya think? “Backward and homebound, the pigeon, the dove, Gone with the wind and the rain on an airplane” cool song. I also like the song Echoes which used to go “planets meeting face to face”. Hmmm, when I watched the Echoes/2001: Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite synch it made sense. Also, the song ended the same time the movie did. Another coicidence. Pink Floyd DID do three soundtracks to movies and they are: More, Zabriskie Point, and La Valle (The valley Obscured By Clouds). The soundtrack to Zabriskie Point also had Jerry Garcia on it. He did the love scenes. How he did them is explained in the booklet that comes with the cd soundtrack. He just sat down on a stool and laid it all out. He had the love scene on a loop and played to the scenes. It was beautiful. Hmmm, no, he wasn’t synchronizing the songs to the movie, it just seemed that way.
The Wall. On cd booklet of The Wall, it has a list of the songs. Right after the song Comfortably Numb there is a minus sign (-). Pink Floyd are perfectionists, aren’t they? Why would they let this ‘error’ slip? They could have had it changed when the remastered cd came out, but it was left. Interestingly enough, if you play The Wall along with the movie Alice In Wonderland, it synchs, but only if you skip a song. I wonder which song… Could it be…Comfortably Numb? Yeah…
A Momentary Lapse of Reason, although not with Roger Waters, its still a great album. I like the songs on it too. Like Yet Another Movie. Yet Another Movie!!! What??? I like Wish You Were Here. The tribute to the great Syd Barrett. I don’t know what it says during the part when you hear a lot of people at a party and their talking and this man says something. Might wanna turn the volume up. Its at the end of Welcome To the Machine, at about 6:58 I believe. Nah, its just me. I didn’t hear him say George Baily. Funny, but Wish You Were Here is synchronized with Its A Wonderful Life. The album art, the man in the desert standing on a suitcase and holding out a record. The man has no face and no arms. Kinda like…like…he isn’t there…the man diving into the water with no splash…kinda like…like…he isn’t there… What is Its A Wonderful Life about? Hmmm… The front of Wish You Were Here. It has 2 men on it, exactly alike, cept ones on fire. Its an odd picture. Wait, whats that!!! They’re in a lot…not any kind of lot…its a movie lot! Another coicidence. Face the facts.

Okay, that’s it.
All I need is ONE coherent person to jump in here and tell me this guy’s not a nutjob. Then I’ll accept that this was all a Great Plan.
But, dude… get help.
Paul is dead. I am the Walrus. Goo-goo-ga-joob.
[hushed tennis announcer’s voice] David B amazingly reached that shot and lobbed it craftily into CK’s court, just inside the end line. Will Dex be able to reach it in time? Where will he hit it? Back after this commercial.[/announcer’s voice]
I like the triangle on the cover of The Dark Side of the Moon. It seems that i’ve seen traingles on some other albums too…hmmm…oh yes, on some of the Camels albums, Alan Parsons (I robot), the Blue Man Group, Def Leppards Hysteria. Hysteria? Whats it mean?
Hysteria
1Behavior exhibiting excessive or uncontrollable emotion, such as fear or panic.
2A mental disorder characterized by emotional excitability and sometimes by amnesia or a physical deficit, such as paralysis, or a sensory deficit, without an organic cause.
Note* the second definition of Hysteria isn’t to be confused with Mental Retardation, which is what Famer boy has.

Hmmmm… triangles. Yes! Triangles! It all makes sense! How could I have missed the triangles? Has my mental retardation advanced so far that the Secret of the Triangles has baffled me?
Come to think of it…
I saw an orchestra once, and there was a guy in back playing… yep, you guessed it, a TRIANGLE! It must have been… ALAN PARSONS!
And the roads in Dealy plaza, when seen from above, form… A TRIANGLE! Lee Harvey Oswald must have been working with Judy Garland and L. Frank Baum! Bastards!
I could go on and on, but you can find all this AND MORE at my new website, http://www.fuckingtrangles.com , just as soon as I register the domain name and learn HTML.
One of my favorite movies from the 60’s was Marat/Sade. I feel as though I’m having flashbacks. But I can’t escape.
samclem, what do you think you’re DOING, posting at the SAME TIME as me? Don’t you know that makes you weird, perhaps even… MENTALLY RETARDED?
You and I BOTH posted at THREE minutes after the hour… most, if not ALL triangles, have THREE sides. Does posting at THREE minutes after the hour imply SYNCHRONICITY?
The government has been covering this up. The THREE branches of government, if you know what I mean. I think you DO.
Black helicopters always travel in TRANGULAR formation, or didn’t you know that?
I have proof. Just ask me.
