“Liar” by Bikini Kill. Many other Bikini Kill and riot grrrl genre bands’ songs would likely qualify although sometimes it difficult to tell the difference between anger and regular ole vanilla defiant punk attitude. It would take me several days to compile a list of all pissed-off chick riot grrrl songs.
“Cross the Breeze”, “The Sprawl”, and “Cinderella’s Big Score” among other songs by Sonic Youth sung by bassist Kim Gordon.
“Piss Factory” by Patti Smith. If that’s not pissed-off chick genre, then it is proto-pissed-off chick.
“Fuck You” by Lily Allen
“Putin zazhigayet kostry” by Pussy Riot among other ditties by the same group. Can we include non-English language music? That would open up more options of “pissed-off chick” genre for certain.
This song really defines the sub-genre “pissed-off chick”. The lyrics and vocal performance are great but Flea’s and Dave Navarro’s bass and guitar contributions, respectively, really take this song to a new level.
The top-most lyrics to Scarborough Fair work pretty well sung by a pissed-off chick.
