Since I had to miss the last Pittsburgh Dopefest and there are some people here I’d really like to meet, I thought I’d try starting one myself. My thought is, since the leaves will be changing color soon, why don’t we make it in a local part and bring whatever food, drink etc. seems to suit? I’ll ante up a batch of truffles.
Does anyone else want in on this?

There is a better-than-average chance that I will be moving to Pittsburgh soon. The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has asked me to fly out there (at my own expense) for the final round of interviews. I’ll be flying out this Wednesday and leaving on Saturday, and if all goes well, will probably be moving to Pittsburgh sometime in October.

Anyhow, I will be in Pittsburgh from Oct 18 through about the 25th, in case the potluck is around there. I just wanted to stick myself in the thread to watch it.
Mark me down as a vague “maybe.”
October sounds like a good month for me. Who knows, maybe we can make it a “Welcome Atreyu!” party as well. October 4th and 19th are out for me, but other weekends or Sunday the 20th are fine. Also, Punha, and anyone else who’s never said “yinz” in his or her life is also welcome to show up. agentfroot, a kidnapping could be arranged. In fact, I was half-planning on it.
Now to see about scouting locations. I was thinking Frick Park, Boyce Park, Point State Park, or North or South Park. Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh is the easiest for out of towners to find, but it doesn’t have any free parking. Suggestions, anyone?

I’ve been looking for an excuse to go to Pittsburgh. I have a friend there I need to catch up with. If we did this on the 20th, that would work well for me.
What is this, a conspiracy? The reason the 19th is out for me is I’ll be getting together with my best friend who’s the person I first made truffles for. If she hears that I made a batch and didn’t save any for her, you might have one less Doper around here!
