Pityriasis Rosea by any other name...

It was the first week of June. I would be graduating High school in a few days, when without warning I developed a rash on my upper left arm. It resembled Ring Worm. I did the natural thing, wonder what it is, one day ask the nurse, and be informed that I had to keep it covered at all times. I did as she said, applyign ointments creams salves and what have you. The rash got worse, though, and started to spread. My face and everything below the knee’s are safe from this dreaded ailment…for now.

What is Pityriasis Rosea? Many doctors think its a virus. It can be confused with several other viruses including one that is potentialy deadly in the long run. Pityriasis Rosea is only a skin disease, as far as the medical establishment can tell. It leaves the persons body covered with branny scales which itch no matter what is done about it. Skin is constantly being shed and exposed making wearing clothing painful at times. Hot weather worsesn the condition. As it is summer in southern California, I do not forsee the rash going away any time soon. It chooses to vanish at well. It can last 7 days to 7 months (in all fairness it averages about one to two months). In short its an evil sadistic disease.

Though not contagious, people are not fond of meeting people whose hands are covered with scaly bits of dried skin, raw exposed skin, and so on. I will begin college soon, and the disease shows no sign of letting up. I do not wish to try to meet a Woman with two large…heart, only to have to explain that a uncommon virus has chosen me as its victim.

I must contineu what I have been doing, take baths in talc powder, calimine lotion, cool/luke warm water, etc. I am also increasing the amount of benedry I am taking to assist in my efforts to rid myself of this condition.

I know that there is, as of yet, no cure. However, as it is causing me to sleep 12+ hours a day I decided it would be best to see if nyone had any ideas. I am incredibly tired, my mouth tastes horrible, and I just realized that the doctor did not take a look to see if anything was amiss in the pargs of my esophogus he cannot see.
Sleepless in California.

Medieval Medicine party!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Break out the leeches!!!

 if nothing else will soothe, try refridgerated Natural yogurt and a little lemon juice. It works for sunburn

Perhaps you could try this cure taken directly from “Dr. Chase’s book of houshold remedies and receipts(sic)” circa 1895

“For all manner of stubborn rashes and tumors this has been found to be effective. This remedy works best on extremities. Take one thin guage zinc plate and place under ext. Place a copper plate on top of the ext. Soak a good-sized strip of cotton in salt water. Wring out the cotton strip and wrap this around the ext. with the metal plates being held firmly in place. As the strip becomes dry, you may wet it with more salt water. there will be some tingling and the flesh will becomes red and slough off taking the offending matter with it. Do not use this remedy on the face or neck.”

I swear this absolutely true. Now I’m not much on physics but can someone tell me— would this produce some sort of electrical current(hence the tingling)
