Pizza toppings, what's in whats out

When I was younger, the big thing to specify on pizza orders was “everything but anchovies”. Later it was “everything but shrimp and anchovies”. Now I don’t find either of those on the menus, but pineapple is common, as well as black beans (on Mexican pizza), parsley (enough to qualify as a topping), asparagus, Buffalo wing pieces (no bones) and fried egg.

Canadian bacon & pineapple are now mainstream pizza. In my high school days, it was wacky strange stuff.

Nothing… I don’t like many toppings. Once in a while I’ll go for pepperoni or mushroom or garlic cloves or jalapenos. But usually it’s plain cheese.

Joe’s and The Lost Dog Cafe are a couple of popular places for pizza around here. I count 34 available toppings on the Lost Dog menu, not counting specialty pizzas like Taco.
