PJD strikes again in the MMP

Evening all. Exercise and weights were done and got only a little rained on. Dairy Queen provided the Moanday dinner (they have surprisingly good hamburgers but so-so fries, IMHO) and am now seeing how many you tube videos I can watch before bedtime (next up: Irish People try Spanish Whiskey). Rain is due to continue until 4-5am tomorrow, so hopefully will dry out some on 2sDay. Otherwise a quiet night.

Got my collected mail and out of about 15 items only 3 (a bill from Tru-Green, a Public TV schedule and a BJ’s catalog) were not a letter asking for money for some organization. I make contributions in June to about 8-10 places depending on my budget and apparently this means my mailbox gets lots of other folks writing to say ‘please…’ I keep a file of those I’m possibly interested in and will make a decision in June, but otherwise they are just grist for the shredder. On the other hand, I have at least Four 2026 Calendars, if anyone needs one, let me know…

Oh, and weight was 202.4lbs so I have gained about 3.5lbs over the holidays, which is not too bad. We’ll see how I’m doing at next week’s weigh-in.

And late night scrolling time…

MM, tell him to check out any new assignment carefully, some base housing is…less than desirable…

Dicey, for a true pilgrimage, you’d need cheese from Greece, Turkey, Lebanon and Israel I reckon…or for a different faith, Saudi Arabian…

FCM, sounds like an equitable dividing of dog chores. And the platform looks nice.

nellie, glad to hear you had a good T-Day. And I used to be the second guy in the office, no matter how early I arrived Ray was always there…I accused him of having his house on top of our work building…

Pavo, hope the snow abates soon and the cats regain their sanity.

Cookie, so nice to have a memory pop up like that. You must have had some dead-eye shooters there.

Hmm, intentional or typo??

And that’s all for today, We’ll see how many You Tubes I can go through before sleepage. Catch y’all tomorrow.

This is MMP.

(‘so’ is a typo.)

Waves at everyone, I’m just exhausted by my day of hiding inside away from people and doing nothing. Three days of people was just too much for me. I woke up planning to go out and do things and even donned a bra and respectable sweater. Then the needle called and nothing else happened.

I finished stitching the xmas ornament I started last month, I like doing little things in between doing big things.

Bright Tree also reminded me to give GG the treat under the cup test. I got a paper cup and showed GG the treat, then covered it with the cup. He knew there was a treat there and was just starting to circle the cup when Jolene walked over and knocked the cup over to snub the treat. I showed GG another treat and put it under the cup and Jolene ran over to knock the cup over again so I gave her to Hubs for a cuddle and tried one more time.

Poor gormless guy never got it, despite seeing Jolene doing the hard part and leaving the treat for him.

I think I have a flower bud on my lemon tree and am super excited. It hasn’t been very happy since I brought it back inside so I’ve fed it and bought a grow light. I’m hoping that trying to bloom is a good thing, not an indication that it wants to breed before it finally dies.

I have adopted the “Do One Thing” approach to my ever-long List of Things Needing to Be Done (around the house, updating finances, walking dogs, cleaning and tidying stuff, clearing out a pile of papers, laundry, occasionally a work project).

I could try to work really hard every night after work and knock lots of things off The List, but I’ve discovered that just makes me tired, and there’s always stuff left on The List, and I wake up tired before work in the morning.

So I’ve started “Do One Thing”.

“What one thing do you want to do tonight, Piper?”

I think for a bit; what is the one thing I’m most bothered / worried / thinking about during the day?

After I figure that out, I do it.

Then I stop worrying about The List and relax for my evening.

(Sometimes it might take an hour to do the One Thing, sometimes it’s just five minutes, but the length of time is not directly proportional to the amount of worry or stress related to that One Thing. It’s that One Thing that is the problem, for whatever reason in my addled head. Once I’ve done that One Thing, I can tell Brain to shut up about all the other things. Brain grumbles a bit and then leaves me alone.)

In other news, dogs were out in the back yard and suddenly started whining to come in. Big Dog doesn’t care about the cold, but Little Dog is decidedly bothered by the change in our living conditions as December opened. Tonight, though, they both started whining at the same time to come in.

Let them in, and they’ve got a nice cover of snow.

I understand all these words, but can’t make heads or tails of them together.

(They’ve been great fun tonight. I have no idea why they find the little plastic springs so fascinating, but they do. Most of them are now under furniture.)

Welcome back wizard!

I’ve seen the needle and the damage done?

My needles all have thread attached!

Here’s the big piece I’m working on, I turned the last corner today. I’ll post a picture of the small bit tomorrow, the light isn’t great now.

I stumbled over that as well, then thought, “Naw, Jane Doe is into Mary Jane.”

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 38 degrees Ferret Height(3.33 Centipedes). It’s supposed too rain soon.

Love those colors.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with a predicted high of 8c/46f, and cloudy. Weather app says “Sure it could be fucking warmer outside, you could also have more fucking spiders in your hair. Count your fucking blessings.”

That reminds me of a bar we went to in Budapest. They had some bizarre art in there, and a big sign that said “We’re not here to fuck spiders”.

We had a quiet night yesterday, and were in bed by midnight. Up and almost packed now, we are aiming to be on the road by 10am, stopping locally for petrol in Kilbirnie, and then probably once more for food. I am, of course, planning on it being my favourite service station at Tebay. Everyone’s got a favourite service station, right?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. *YAWN’ ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 63 with rain until eleven a.m. and then cloudy the rest of the day. It’s laundry day. I am overwhelmed with the joy of it all. Also a good day to be in da cave. Sup will be tacos ‘n fixin’s and refried beans. Fartfest to follow.

BooFae safe travels back home. I am partial to Circle K stores not because of the gas, but they have good fountain drinks.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I’m not heartless, but I had to laugh at this. Poor kitteh! Good thing he has you to protect him from the cruel, confusing world…

It is interesting to me the things some people find relaxing and fulfilling. I’d go mad trying to do what you do because progress is so slooooooow! Knitting and crocheting, on the other hand, show me significant progress all the time - progress as in the piece gets bigger and bigger. That’s why I’d never try tatting or crocheting with tiny hooks and thread. I’ve embroidered in some long-past days but I think I’m just too impatient. Similarly with hippie’s quilts - pretty sure I’d go mad before the first square foot was done.

Moral of the story - I guess it’s a good thing we all have different interests. Sorry - not enough caffeine yet to be more coherent.

Woke to 34 Ferrets and rain. Not sure when the skies first opened, but it’s supposed to continue till late afternoon. We’re also promised a week of sub-freezing nights. At least my new plants should get a good drink today. My only plan is to do more hardware sorting in the shop and maybe knock sawdust off the machines for a while. It is a bit of a mess out there.

Beyond that, the day will unfold however it wants. Kinda like an adventure. Or a horror movie. We’ll just have to see…

Happy Tuesday!

Morning! Not sure what all is on tap for the day, but hope it’s productive.

Looks like only 2 inches of snow. 29 degrees.
Just going to go get groceries.

Yeah, there was one guy who was scary good. As in sniper good. He was knocking the bullseye out at 500 yards, open sights.

Doggio, that was a brilliant send-up of Downtown, that was a hit for Petula Clark. Those who don’t remember that, or weren’t born yet, look it up.

Right now, it is 20 degrees F, headed to a balmy 29 later. It’s warm enough for the scattered salt to melt the ice and snow, not much wind, and a chance of more snow. We got more snow here in November than any year since records have been kept.

Yesterday, after my shower, I found a jigsaw puzzle piece in my shoe from two puzzles ago. I rotate my shoes, you see, to keep them from getting too stinky. Unlike my lovely wife, I have a mere six pairs of shoes.

Today is Tuesday, and after taking a month off, my wife will be doing her Poshmark show at 4:30pm Eastern US time. She sells purses, jewelry, and this time, my big, black Stetson hat. Carson 6X Cowboy Hat | Stetson

jtc, poor gg. good thing jolene came along. i’ll have to try this with lager tonight. koritza is not food motivated. good news on the lemon tree.

northern piper, that is a very good approach. last night my one thing was sorting my holiday socks. i now have 26 pairs. my goal is 40.

as usual, the weather disappoints me. just icky drippy stuff.

I guess it’s winter. We kind of skipped fall. Wife has a snow day. I do not.

So regular Tuesday for me. Teaching at University 2, then Symphony Chorus rehearsal, which is extra long because we’re rehearsing both Messiah and the holiday pops concert.

I have a little bit of time this morning, so I’m going to get some productive lounging done.
