PJD strikes again in the MMP

Good morning all. Was up about 6am, peed and pilled, and then went back to bed until 7:30am because what the use of being a RDOS if you can’t stay in bed until you want? A little less activity today, need to gas up car Paid several bills on-line last night for 2026 (pest control and lawn care) so the credit cards will be a bit stressed, but they were in my budget so all is good. The rain has departed the area and the temperature is 36F, but only getting to 40F and then it starts getting cooler the rest of the week.

boo fae, locally I always go to the same station at the Kroger Market since I get a discount from my grocery shopping there. Safe travels.

JtC, the cup test gave me a grin this morning, so thanks for that. Best wishes for the lemon tree.

Piper, I try to keep a list (either written down or in my head) of things to do and I do try to do them, but might try your ‘Do One Thing’ approach and see where it goes.

Pavo, :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Knots, I don’t consciously try to rotate my shoes, but I do have three pair I use the most and I do try to spread out my usage. But never have a stinky shoe problem (at least I can’t smell anything…).

And onward into the day. Have a good one all.

Always a good thing to build into the workday!

Good morning.

It’s dark, slightly damp, cloudy, and 43°F. The forecast calls for clouds all day with a daytime high temperature of 46°F. Once again, rather blah weather.

Nellie, I’m glad you had such a wonderful holiday with the kids.

Flyboy, I hope you find a new position sooner rather than later.

JtC, I don’t think I could ever stop cuddling GG. He sounds like the sweetest fellow in the world, really. And, that says a lot, because I’m a dog person. Nice stitching work, too!

FCM, all the woodwork on the boat looks wonderful!

BooFae, wishing you safe travels home. I had “favorite” gas stations when I traveled for work. Mostly, they were favorites because they were easy to get in and out of, clean, and had good road snacks.

The decorations never made it out of storage yesterday. Maybe today. I dunno. However, groceries were obtained and put away, and I took care of some adulting, such as bill paying.

I’m not really sure what’s on today’s agenda. I’m feeling antsy, but at the same time I don’t really want to go anywhere.

Well, I suppose I should get on with the day. I have a few more dishes to load in the dishwasher and need another cup of coffee. You all take care of yourselves.

Short day for Peak season, only 8 hours. I was loading 100 Middle green, which is less stressful stretched out over 6 hors* instead of 3. It’s 40 and rainy, a good morning to curl up in bed with a warm cat and a cold martini.
Spot is attempting to annoy me by repeatedly knocking my mouse off my desk. I am attempting to annoy him by repeatedly picking him up. Judging by the anguished yowling, I’m winning.

On this side of the pond I’m sure most people would say WaWa, Sheetz, or Buc-ees. My favorite one is the one on Glenwood with the impressive beer selection.

" 'e’s not a Messiah, 'e’s a naughty boy!" - Brian’s mum

Spot suggests Screaming Zoomies in the living room.

Yeah, I’ve got shit to do, and you can’t do anything zoned out on opioids. I even side-eye Indica if its too early in the day.

I like that and have adopted something similar, but mine is Just one room. Go in and tidy up (we keep things put away, but pillows and blankets need to be straightened and toys tossed in their toy box), dust, sweep and mop. Fifteen or twenty minutes and I’m done.

A week or so ago, I cut a thick zip-tie off something and Jolene asked for it. That bit of trash turned into her favorite toy in the world and it travels from one side of the house to the other at least daily.

That sounds like a very sound policy. Despite being a floozy, I also have certain standards and can agree with that one.

This one’s FAST! I can see whole linear inches in just one day!

TBH, it allows me to hyperfocus on something and use both hands while shutting everything else out. There’s no room in my mind for fretting over the state of the world while I’m in my stitching trance, if I lose count I’ll make visible mistakes and have to go back and take everything apart again.

As much as I love talking needlepoint and all the finer details with other stitchers, it would be a very boring world if that was all that anyone else did.

And filled with Nelson smooches! Do you get dizzy if you sit up too fast or are your muscles just too weak from lack of exercise? Whatever it is, I hope your PT goes well and has fast results.

Jolene isn’t what I’d call food motivated either. She wants to see and smell it, she doesn’t usually want to eat it. She didn’t want the treats under the cup, she just wanted to be sure that they were still what she saw me put there.

We got a little bit of snow this morning, but it has all melted off as well. Currently it is snowing but its not sticking and probably won’t.

The poor thing lost at least half its leaves when I brought it in so now it is so “fragile” that I don’t want to mess with it. The flower bud is facing the window. I’d like to turn the tree around so I can admire the bud while I’m stitching, but I’m afraid that would disturb its equilibrium.

It is hard to take my hands off his fur, it is so soft and slick. He’s not prone to mats like many double coated critters so brushings are enjoyable, not a hair-pulling battle.

I can tell the new drivers. We have our address posted in large numbers and in several places AND Hubs put some fake sunflowers on the ends of the fence to help folks see where it is and how much room there is. Yesterday’s delivery guy parked in the across the street neighbor’s driveway and walked across the highway, up our driveway and instead of leaving the package on our front porch, took the extra steps to put it by the door under the carport.

Once again I was planning on going out and doing things today, but the call of needle and thread is just too strong. I’m in the mood to zone out over borders and there is plenty of border work on my big piece. If it does start snowing, I’ll bake some cookies.

koritza likes the plastic ring from a scotch tape dispenser. when ever anyone in work needs to replace a roll of tape, i ask them for the ring. she loves to swat it or carry it.

lager likes twist ties. he swats those all over.

there is no crossover. they do not interplay.

both of them ignored the purposely bought springy cat toys. ah, sweet mystery of cat i adore you.

Good morning, all. It’s 40-summat and drizzly, which is warmer than yesterday. We’re on neighbor cat-feeding duty for a few days. It will be nice to see them. I have a Zoom with a co-presenter in about an hour, then shall have writing time, punctuated by gift-wrapping. I’m happy to have a week where every day only has 2-3 responsibilities, glad for no guests this week, and looking forward to watching the rain rather than being in it.

Lunch break after sorting hardware for what seemed like hours. Our start was delayed because the pellet stove wasn’t dumping pellets in the little burn basket. FCD had just added a bag of pellets, so we had to un-add all of them to figure out what was wrong. And apparently one of the pellets we un-added had been jamming the feed screw. It’s working now, which is good, as it’s still in the 30s and very soggy out.

I’ve only got 1 more bag of miscellany to sort (I hope!) then I need to shift a gazillion little drawers to get the various bits in a reasonable order - heaven forbid you put a #10 machine screw after the 3/8 socket head cap screws. :open_mouth: I figured out pretty quickjy, tho, not to put the new drawers in as they’re labeled. Instead, I’ll wait till all are done, then line them up by size and incorporate all at once. That prevents moving the same drawers half a dozen times. I R SMRT!!

And once I’m done with that, I’m just done with the shop for today. I have one more lap blanket I want to get done so I can have Jessica pick them all up. I should make a big one for her. Maybe I will.

I have got to add I’m beyond amazed at the change of behavior in Otis. He actually listens to me without benefit of the buzz. When he starts to climb on me and I say NO - he stops! I can walk across the yard without being tackled! I wish we’d gotten the collar the day we adopted him! He still pesters me to throw toys for him, but the pestering isn’t accompanied by nipping. Not perfect but much improved. Who knew a vibration/buzz would be a training aid?

Well, lunch has been ingested. Guess I need to get back at it.

Thank you, Red.

It was cold this morning, and the bed was warm. Mrs Magill prodded me a bit, so the pup and I got a short walk in. I really had no excuse for not wanting to get up, except I was warm. I’d gotten some nice, warm leggings for this cold weather so I just need to suck it up and get my miles in, even in the winter.

I’ve been having some issues lately, so I’ve got a consultation with a LPC this afternoon. This issue had been preying on me for a while, but just admitting to myself that I need help and seeking it out has helped immensely.

It was a very strange place - they had a massive picture on the wall that looked like an old family photograph in black and white. Except the kids looked like they had sacks and googly eyes instead of head. And in the middle of the room was a huge sculpture of an owl…with a cauliflower for a head. I think they might have been licking toads instead of doing anything either arachnids!

Anyways, we are home. The cats seem pleased to see us, I have unpacked and got some laundry going, updated my accounts and paid the bills since payday happened while we weren’t here. Most things are automatically paid but a couple of things aren’t. They have been dealt with, and I’ve just sent my balance payment to Kitty Angels. Now I have to feed the mogs because I am here and it’s all down to me again!

One doesn’t purchase fuel at Tebay, unless there is no other choice. One stops at Tebay for a coffee, toilet break and a look round the gift shop. I note Boofae is already home, but for future reference if car fuel is ever required on that route, the truck stop at J35 sells petrol at normal prices, not inflated motorway price.

I typically stop Cairn Lodge instead, makes more sense on my normal route.

I am having one of those weeks in which too many deadlines are coinciding; I can’t wait for tomorrow to be over so I can have at least a scrap of brainspace to myself.

Long day. Went to work 30 minutes earlier than usual, and left work one hour later. The last 3 hours of work was spent drinking wine, eating homemade goodies, and decorating the office. Not too shabby.

Hubby should be home soon - just 80 minutes after me. Would be nice to sleep in tomorrow, but it’s Wednesday, so we have to get up at the normal time and go to work. Tomorrow will be weird because I’m going to the gym for the first time since July. I think I can find my way.

Me too!

I’m in the orifice today for the staff beating. A couple of board members attended on Teams. One of them was talking about how, as a manager, he always takes into account that his employees are feeding their families, so he tends to support hi employees before the bottom line. A cow-orker and I exchanged a glance. The board member was not in the meeting when La Jefa talked about my ‘transition’. She made it clear that her decision was completely financial, and thanked me for my professionalism.

We’re getting on of those Gallup employee satisfaction polls next week. Due to the size of our company, 100% participation is required. I can’t wait. :smiling_face_with_horns:

Flyboy I love those employee engagement surveys. I usually let the GenX/Middle Child snark fly free. The expression on our director’s face as he reads out the comments to the group is priceless.

I was already going to rate things lower than last year. When I got moved from salaried to hourly, I no longer felt like a valued member of a team. I felt like an ‘employee’.

Exercised completed and gas tank filled (over 500 miles and only 17.7 gallons needed). Have a soccer meeting in about 90 minutes so dinner will be early tonight.

Will do the scrollin’ and replyin’ later, need to get my TV and Mac-n-Cheese fix.

I threw together an interesting, if random, supper. I had half a pound of fresh mushrooms that needed to be used, so I sliced them up with onion, sauteed it all, then threw in some leftover broccoli florets and a half a pound of pulled poke and heated it all thru. It could have used some kind of seasoning, but I wasn’t feeling inspired, so it just got some salt. And it wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t serve it to guests, but it was a good way to use up what I wanted to use and there’s enough left over for a couple more meals.

Dishwasher is sloshing and I’m about to find something to watch while crocheting. What to do tomorrow? What to do…?

We had 4 inches of snow on the ground when I got up. Ms Peach is not a fan. She didn’t even make it off the back porch more than a step or 2.

I think I’m about to finish up a couple of items at work this week, provided the printers get shit done. It’ll be nice to cross things of the list.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. We accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. We had margaritas cause we celebrated taco Tuesday. The tacos and beans were good. Fartfest has ensued.

WaWa has opened a store locally. We haven’t been yet as it’s not exactly near us but not far away either. It’s been open for a few weeks so probably all the hoopla has died down. I think we will go explore it one day soon. Buc-ees is just too much. Sis and I went to the one that’s not too far from Ye Olde Hometowne. We looked around for half an hour and were like BTDT ain’t gotta again.

Weak muscles at this point.

Two big things that happened today were I was up in a wheelchair for a bit and I had an hour with Nelson!

Hopefully, more progress tomorrow.
