PJD strikes again in the MMP

Yay! Hope so!

Happy Chooseday! I was going to post last night, but misadventures in errand-walking made me cold and cranky, so I spared you my cantankerous ramblings. The first aggravation was that the sidewalks that led to UPS were closed on both corners on one side of the street. What knucklenoggin thought that one up? I had to go 4 blocks out of my way. The second one was that UPS was out of the size boxes I needed to mail my sister’s birthday gift, so I had to trek to USPS. I’d forgotten tape, so I had to buy a roll, and it had technical difficulties, so…you get teh picture.

Today has been much better. I dog sat for little Max, who demands constant attention but is such a sweetie, you’re happy to give it. And a neighbor inquired about cat-sitting, so I’m getting a new client. Yay!

Max’s person had to go see a specialist about the pain that sent her to the ER a week ago. The specialist said her right kidney is a mess. The pain was so low on her abdomen, it was nearly on her thigh. Can kidney pain be referred there? She has to go in for a nuclear scan. It’s concerning, but I’m glad this doc is being so thorough. Answers are so important. I always thought a good curse to place on someone–if one were into putting curses on people–would be, “May you have ailments nobody can diagnose.”

It sounds like it works great as long as you’re consistent with it. Back in Wyoming, I’d run before dawn every morning with my faithful lab. People en route had a dog, Cinch (They were into rodeo.), who would run to join us. This would’ve been OK except that he also charged and chased vehicles. Drivers would get mad at ME. I always shouted, “Not my dog!” but few believed me. I complained to his people. They’d put the buzz collar on him for a few hours and then quit. Otis is, of course, a Very Good Boy and has smart, consistent owners. So glad it’s working!

BooFae, that DOES sound like a weird place. It’d creep me out.

Flyboy, I hope she gets reamed in the evaluations.

Sitting here eating gouda and drinking tea.

Finally fed up with my Sonos S1 system. It’s become so balky in recent years that I now can’t play my Apple music library. I won’t be badgered into buying a new system from them like they want, so I just ordered an Alexa Dot to replace it. Hope it works.

The wife’s niece was over for a bit and we went for late lunch not far from here.

Sadie has been off her feed the last few days, so I swapped out her usual wet food for some kibble, which seems to interest her. We’ll see how it goes.

Whee!

I napped. Dinner tonight was burritos with the last of the leftover turkey, cilantro rice, refried beans, and stir fried tomatoes, onions, and bell and Anaheim peppers. And a Manhattan.

Spot likes lunchmeat, and my friend C’s turkey. He does not like my cooking. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Good choices.

Besides, what are they gonna do, fire you?

9pm and time for the late-night final. Attended the Bored Meeting for the soccer league, managed to stay awake while saying a few words now and then to prove I wasn’t comatose and am now inside and warm and looking for an early bedtime because I’m tired for some reason. At 32F and heading down to 25F, that nice thick comforter looks pretty good.

FCM, read your sorting epic, now if you’d like to come over and go through my USB/appliance/etc. wires and sort them out, well…  And good news with Otis, sounds like he’s a fast learner.

Maus, hope the consultation was productive.

Welcome home, boo fae. Sounds like the place was into ‘modern’ art in a big way.

Dicey, enjoy your gym trip.

Flyboy, I imagine your employee satisfaction rating will not be ‘excellent’…

VanGo, enjoy the list-crossing-off. Always something I enjoyed.

swampy, Don’t have a WaWa here but Buc-ees is about 12 miles away so I stop there now and then.

red, hope your back up and going strong soon, and hard to tell if Nelson or you were happier.

nellie, some days Murphy just doesn’t seem to let up. Glad to hear today was better. Best wishes to Max’s person.

And it’s 9:30pm now and need to do a couple more thinks then Slumberland will be on the agenda. Take care and catch y’all on Humpday.

You imagine… accurately.

I realized when I read red’s post saying she was up in a wheelchair for awhile that I’d missed some important news, so I went back to the old MMP to look, then looked up c.diff. Whoa. Red, I am so sorry–also retroactively appalled. It seems life shoved you onto some very thin ice. I’m so glad and relieved you’re still with us and that Nelson got to be with you and vice-versa. I’m hoping hard for a speedy recovery.

Didn’t you mean gouda choices? Hey, skipping the obvious joke would have been edam shame.

I mentioned to The Spousal Unit the other day that I think that La Jefa has never interacted with a person. She was a corporate fundraiser for a hospital foundation, and she interacted with other corporate people to get their money… because richies like to pretend they care. They’re not the same as actual people.

I found it amusing that the one board member talked about caring for people, and then later La Jefa said my elimination was purely financial.

Did I say that already? After a sucky day and a 3:20 commute home, plus wine, I don’t remember.

Up, caffeinated,m and sheveled. Off to heave.

How’s it Wednesday already and I’m just getting here?

Flyboy, you are being much more tactful than I would. I’m impressed, but I wouldn’t blame you either for a full on blow out.

I’ve not been feeling good and I’m still waiting for a referral to a doctor. Around here neuropsychiatrists don’t accept insurance so I’m going to have to see a neurologist instead. Feeling off has greatly complicated work and I’m trying to figure out how to get/stay caught up. I’ve been working on my 6 IEPs and I don’t even have the first one done yet when in reality I should have had it done Monday. I think I will be able to get it finished today, though.

I also kinda bombed my Secret Santa gift. I haven’t had time to get out and go shopping and I don’t foresee that happening in enough time to ship the gift overseas. So, I bought something on Amazon instead. And it will probably appear to be a stretch regarding what they were interested in. Well, I did what I could. I think it’s kinda cool and I hope they like it.

The weather was bad here yesterday and poor MusicMan had to drive his big truck through it. I’m grateful that he made it through the day and home safely.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 53 and cloudy. TWPTB say rain tomorrow. We shall procure provisions this mornin’. It will be a late mornin’ trip as we will get fried chikin lunches for the day’s main need to feed. Normally we would be goin’ over to the church house for the Wednesday night doin’s, but we forgot to sign up and the deadline is noon Tuesday, so oops. :grimacing: Of course we shall be fine with an afternoon/evenin’ of RDOS sloth.

red hooray for Nelson visit! I saw the pic over on the book of faces. Hard to tell who was happier, Nelson or his mommy. May recovery be quick.

Coppertone that sounds all sophisticated and elegant. I picture you with a china teacup and saucer and a little china plate of gouda cheese.

FlyBoy may the reviews be the worst ever. Don’t hold back.

Sticky_Buns sometimes the best you can do is just that. I am sure you will get those IEPs done. I am also sure the Secret Santa gift will be well received.

Nellie sorry you had such a bad time with UPS and USPS. Glad you had his majesty King Charles for therapy to get over it all. A cocktail would have also been prescribed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Le sigh.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with a predicted high of 8c/46f and showers. Weather app says “Better get your fucking umbrella”. Why would I do that? it’s all bright and shiny out there.

Tebay would be my preferred lunch stop but it rarely seems to fit into the plan unless the traffic on the M6 is particularly bad. My second choice is Annandale Water, mainly for the wandering geese  Thanks for the advice on the J35 truckstop, it was closed on the way up! Fortunately on the way back, I’d filled the tank at Tesco’s in Kilbirnie so that was enough to get me almost home, just needed a little bit extra at Keele (also a convenient loo break).

I saw the pic on FB of you and Nelson, you looked so happy together!

Today’s my last day off before irk tomorrow. I did a load of laundry yesterday so that’s one job out of the way. We got a takeaway for dinner as neither of us could be bothered with cooking. I was in bed by 10.30pm and I did not get up for another 12 hours. I did get some decent sleep, so that has helped. ‘im indoors took himself to the station this morning so I didn’t have to get up and do that. He’s an adult, he can manage that kind of thing.

I am up and I’ve got a cup of tea. My plans for today are to swing by the car wash and have Mr Araz and his helpers get all the muck off the car for me. Then a run to the supermarket for supplies, and then some slothage to finish my day. I should be on campus tomorrow but I’m planning to work from home instead, or possibly call in sick. Having 12hrs in bed did help, but I am still not feeling all that great - a week off is nice, but not so great if you don’t do any actual resting. Thus a bit of sick time may well be in order.

My dentist’s office just called and cancelled my appointment for later this morning as the dentist isn’t in the country at the moment. Fine by me - I have an appointment with the hygienist in January so will combine the dental check-up with that one. Now I need more tea, and I must wash my hair before I can face the public.

I woke up an hour and a half early with leg cramps. Now I’ve had some coffee and pills, so my brain is nearly awake, stumbling around in my skull and demanding more coffee. Maybe I’ll get a haircut today.

Oh, those suck! I hope that they have let up now.

Awake until someone else disturbs me again.

You’re assuming I’ve done the same with our cord collection. Sorry, you’re on your own, dude!

FCD had a boss waaaaaay back who contended that one should never take less than 2 weeks off because you need that long to have a true break. Methinks he was wise.

red - happy healing! Like others here, I saw the FB pic. Epic reunion there!

Only 28 Ferrets this morning, but I see clear blue sky and evidence of sunrise, so there’s that. I was going to paint the white on the doors, but FCD intends to do some sanding today. Wet paint and sanding dust are not a good combination. Hence, I have no plans at the moment. Maybe some rollsuckage. Oh, and I need to repair a dog toy that got pretty chewed up. That critter…

I held back a big I told you so last night. When I was headed to bed, Otis led the way to his crate, where I discovered he’d chewed up a blanket FCD had put in there, insisting Otis was “cold” at night. (Fur coat and minimum of mid-60s in the room?? Cold??) I did my best to get all the bits gathered up so he wouldn’t ingest them, and FCD admitted I was right about blankets in the crate. Go figure!

I’m thinking it’ll be a good day for bean soup. I need to make sure to start it early. The beans in the last batch were a tad too firm because I rushed things. I’ll do better this time. I hope.

Food Lion didn’t have anything interesting in this week’s circular, and we really don’t need anything, so I may pass on grocery shopping. Except we’re almost out of the mini bagels from Aldi. I’ll do an inventory and see where it all stands.

Yes, life here is as exciting as it reads.

Happy Wednesday!

Got up early and turned on the heat in the living room, then scurried back to bed for awhile. Went to have my usual glass of water when I got up and noticed that the pressure was low. Turned the spigot to “hot” and no hot water. Weird, as both the hot water and the building heat are fed by boilers. Hope they get it fixed soon, but it takes a long time for the system to recover.

Crazy day again.

SenGirl got sick on Monday, fever and sore throat. Went to the doctor (free doctor visits for children, thanks health care!) and they tested her for Covid and the flu and negative for both. Got some meds and she’s doing better now.

SenBoy is living futsal now. Nothing else matters.

SenWife is still gone on business related things. Two week trips are a long time. Normally, there are the two of us, but she’s gone frequently as I have to be a “part time” single dad. When she’s here, we split up things, but I have to keep track of all the various schedules, upcoming events and such because when she’s gone then it’s all on me.

I have much greater admiration for full time single parents.

Good morning.

I woke up to 37°F, light fog, and clouds. The day will remain cloudy with a daytime high of 45°F.

Red, yay for Nelson visit and being upright!

Neliie, that does sound like a frustrating day. But, yay for pet business and for soothing pups. Sending best thoughts to Max’s person, too.

Sticky Buns, hang in there. All anyone can do is their best.

Flyboy, La Jefa was tactless, yet again. I understand not wanting to rock things too much since you want that income rolling in until you find something, but I think I would have ground my teeth to ragged stumps by now. If it were me, everything on the survey would be marked with the lowest score possible.

FCM, sounds like the pup really does learn quickly. What a good boy!

Once again, my agenda is wide open. I may decorate, but more than likely, I’ll dust and rollsuck in preparation for the decorations. I just vacuumed a couple of days ago, but dang, those pups shed a lot. I have nothing exciting to report, and I guess in some ways that’s good.

Please take care of yourselves! I’m going to get some more coffee and browse the internet. I’ve already paid a bill today, but I should knock out a couple of others, too. TTFN.
